Not to knock you on your specs, but are you sure that's not a typo? I've got an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (Barton Core), and it's stock clock speed 2.09GHz... I managed to bump mine up the clock of the 3200+ (2.2GHz) briefly, but it was running too hot for the stock cooler...

Thanks for the clarification; makes sense now. I really need to upgrade.

No problem, you helped me out by pointing that out that I forgot to add the 64bit part.

I need to upgrade as well. Games are starting to lag on my system.

While I'm not much into the gaming scene anymore, I REALLY need to modernize. I work in the computer service field, yet run some fairly old equipment. That almost seems to be fairly common, at least amongst me and the other techs I work with, though some have surpassed me as well...

Crap, all you have to do is build a new rig and toss on a FTP server on your current system and use it as a file server and you're good to go.

I was actually seriously considering doing this. I wanted to build a new system, and toss this one in the living room as a movie server / DVR unit. I've just got to get a FireWire cable so that I can connect up my digital cable box to the computer. I wonder if it's powerful enough to recond the Hi-Def movies?

I've been scrapping up my pennies, so hopefully soon...

I was putting junk into the attic and found my old IBM AT. It's not even a IBM AT anymore due to so many upgrades from over the years until my parents bought me a Pentium Pro back in 95.

Case: IBM AT case modified to hold three drives
Motherboard: Biostar baby AT motherboard
CPU: AMD AM386-66 (66MHz) / Cryrix 387 fastmath 40MHz
Memory: 16MB 32pin simms (4MB each) The motherboard has 8 memory slots
Video: Trident 8900 VGA w/ 2MB vRam
Sound: Reveal sound with CD-ROM Panasonic compatible connection
Optical: Reveal 2x CD-ROM (Panasonic compatible)
Storage: 1GB Conner IDE hard drive using a ISA controller card with single channel IDE.
Removable Storage: 1.44MB Floppy and 1.2MB Floppy
Ports: AST 2 Serial (COM) and Parallel (LPT) card
Modem: External 3COM/US Robotics 56K
Power Supply: AT tower style 200watt modified to use the stock AT power supply's case.
Misc: 486 heatsinks with fans on CPU and CO-CPU. Two case card slot fans.
OS: Windows 95a (Runs faster then my parents old TI 486-SL 33MHz 16MB ram.)

The last time I used this system was 3 years ago to play some old classic games that Win2k and XP wouldn't want to run and didn't feel like to hunt down my floppy disks.

Not bad... I'd seriously consider more RAM though, 512MB is really inadequate, considering your other specs... I'd say 1GB minimum, and RAM is actually fairly cheap these days. You can get 2GB sets (2x1Gig) starting at around $50.
