laptop mouse ps2 port

ok i just bought my laptop for college and got a mouse through dell when i purchased the comp. I have a usb mouse and it goes really slow, so i bought a usb to ps2 converter so i could change the speed in the control panel. when i plug in the mouse with the converter i can't use it, its an optical mouse please help!!! i want the mouse to move fast like on a normal desktop.

Go into your control panel-> Mouse, then there should be a "motion" tab at the top. In there you can change the mouse speed

Shouldnt the USB mouse also have a speed setting? All three of mine do...

the USB connection should allow the mouse to be faster, not slower

ok so under the mouse control panel i try to change motion under pointer options and the box for that is not available, in other words i can't change the setting, how can i make it so i can?
