Comcast blocks some Internet traffic

Peer to peer blocking tools already in place and in use.

Comcast is the biggest pain in the butt. Its very easy for a domain to get on their blacklist. On my websites, I was constantly getting complaints that users were not getting their emails from us. Turns out that our "Thread Subscribers" had so many emails going to them, that Comcast blacklisted us as spam. After an amazingly silly automated process, I got us un-listed. But I recommend all users to not use Comcast as their registration email provider. Nothing but problems.

No wonder I'm having so much trouble illegally downloading pron!!! I don't have comcast, but I bet a lot of "sources" for the pron comes from them!

Ok, I'm only kidding but I suppose if the #2 ISP is blocking traffic, it would have a dramatic effect on everyone else on PTP networks.

A lot of ISPs block traffic or external ports. For a example bellsouth doesn't like letting a customers/users to host their own SMTP server. Also for a while there they didn't like it when a customers/users would have a HTTP. JUNO doesn't like people using newsgroups. Comcast of Jacksonville doesn't let you host a FTP, SMTP, HTTP, POP3 or IMAP.

If it isn't illegal and taking up lots of bandwidth, what really gives an ISP the right to block certain ports, other then they can? You can get around this though. Most everything you set up can be given a different port number then the default. You just have to make sure the users know which ports you are using.
Just another reason why I hate Comcast.

Rogers AKA AT&T has been doing this bit shaping thing for quite a while now.......and I WANT to switch ISP's, but I can't since the ONLY other ISP in my area is Bell DSL, and they don't provide high speed service to my building (just low speed) :(
