Xbox with a floppy drive

My old xbox has been turned into a Linux box. Some how I flashed over the flashing program in my mod chip so I can't revert back so I thought what the hell. Lets add some USB ports and see if a floppy drive works. I also got a Sony 48x12x48x CD-RW drive to work as well.

I took out the 3rd and 4th controller ports.

I had a pair of internal USB ports.

I found if I cut one of the screw tabs off it can squeeze in where the old controller ports were.

I clipped off the old connector off the controller ports and wired up the USB. I put the system back together and started it up. I control the xbox via SSH from my main PC. Heres what happened when I tested the drive.

Oh, heres a pic of the floppy drive connected to the xbox.

In all this is just a laugh but it was manly done for CD-RW and Flash drive support.

pretty cool.

So is this an original Xbox? not the 360?

Just curious, what kind of processor does it have?

and how well does it run Linux? And can you still play Xbox games on it?

Yes its the first xbox. It runs linux just fine for the stuff I want to use it for but if you want to use a GUI it's going to be slow as hell. The xbox uses a Pentium 3 at 700MHz and only has 64MB of ram. If you have a mod chip that has two or more ROM banks then you can dual boot the system between ROMs and still be able to play the old games. I'm stuck with the Linux BIOS so I can't play games on my old system.
