Question PCI-E Video card...

Anyone know if a PCI-E 2.0 video card will fit in a PCI-E x16 slot? I'm looking to upgrade my GeForce 8600 GT with a GeForce 8800 GT.....

I've heard 600W is a good amount for a PSU........but higher quality 500W will do the job as well.

I just got an Ultra Xfinity 600W (not the greatest rep......but cheap and has a lifetime warranty)

Actually the 8800gt is great in that regard...one of my systems is running a Q6600 w/ 4gb ram and an 8800gt 512 on a pc power & cooling (now owned by ocz apparently) 450w.

8800GT will work with a GOOD quality 450W supply assuming the rest of your rig isn't an energy hog. 600W would be PLENTY.

I'll eventually go to a higher video card when they come down in price. Don't want to spend $700 on a video card right now. The 8800 GT is quite a step up from the 8600 GT according to specs. They're going for around $300 on Newegg. I mostly want it for my Microsoft Flight simulators (2004 and X). That Flight simulator X is a graphics hog! I just bought a new computer a few months ago with an Intel core 2 quad processor, 4 MB of DDR2 800 memory and a 320 GB SATA hard drive and still can't run flight sim X at the highest settings with the Geforce 8600 GT. Right now I have a 500 watt power supply....
