WTC Concept

Interesting concept for a new WTC. Like it or not, the website design is pretty good.

I like the design a lot, but are they really going to do this? Granted we are supposed to pick up the pieces and move on, but is this the way to go? Will there be anti-aircraft guns mounted on the peak? It says there will be a "No Fly Zone" for a 5 mile radius, but what's the freaking difference? It takes a plane like 1 minute to go 5 miles. It is a really nice design. Most others do too (83% of people who voted liked it). I have mixed feelings for this, can't you tell? ;)

To answer your question, have you read the info on that site or are you just guessing?

here's an actual copy&past fragment of their Security section:

[Quote]

I have been repeatedly asked "Are you going to build another structure that becomes a target to terrorists ?" My answer is this "Our New Cyber City Design Concept for The New World Trade Center 2002 will be impervious to attack" for an example:
1: Our Cyber City will have a State of the Art External Security System which at this stage evolves around "Sound Waves" which has the capacity at a specific frequency to repel flying objects up to a five mile circumference. We will seek support from the political system to bring about an edict that a "Five Mile No Fly Zone" area is put into effect around the island of Manhattan.
2: Our Cyber City will embrace multiple internal security systems to detect and thwart any potential detonation issue both at ground level and lower ground levels. Multiple individual recognition technological systems will be applicable to commercial occupants, residents and visitors alike. Inclusive of commercial delivery personnel at multiple checkpoints before gaining entry to our Cyber City. Examples of such technology will be Iris and Fingerprint security plus three dimensional full body scanning.
3: In the event of an emergency, residents, visitors and commercial occupants within our Cyber City will have multiple egress facilities,
A) Helicopter Pads (12) which are located on the four external towers (Levels 45 and 75).
B) Flexible titanium ladders will enable external movement upward or downward to the atrium Helicopter Pads on levels 45 and 75
C) Multiple internal egress stairwells within the four external towers will be linked directly to the transit levels transporting people to the inner fifth tower where further multiple egress stairwells will exist along with the 50 large, superfast elevators removing occupants from The "Cyber City" in safety
D) Further, the Atrium on levels 45 and 75 (Seven Levels) are all linked horizontally for the movement of people which in the event of an emergency has the capactiy for large volume of people movement.
E) Moreover, like the human backbone the fifth central tower is the anchor which reaches out to structurally support the outer four towers and will always enable a flow of persons from those external four towers to move to the safety zone being the fifth central tower in the event of an emergency and exit our "Cyber City" thereafter in absolute safety. To conclude, the best definition I can give you re the issue of "Security" is that we will manage security on the basis of RISK whereby no element of human doubt or human complacency will ever prevail and put our commercial occupants, residents and visitors AT RISK !

[End Quote]

:bigsmile:Me, personally , I love the new design, and can't wait till they build it

Something about sound waves "deflecting" aircraft for a five mile radius.

I'm not a frickin' genius or anything, but HUH????

Sound is one of the most powerful forces you can imagine. Companies are already developing sound weapons - both lethal and non-lethal.

I'm sure you've seen tuning forks break glasses - or have seen people sing a particular tone and break mirrors, etc. Technology now exists that allow us to model various sound weapons on computer - thereby allowing us to determine what does and does not work and what the effects are.

You can very easily design a system that can pinpoint and destroy anything you want. Its just a matter of amplitude, frequency, direction, and convergence.

I like it... but there is no way in hell they will build another skyscraper at that site. I for one would never want to work there. You might as well plant a big bullseye on the west side saying "HITME".

When they rebuild there, the new structure (or structures) will be 70 stories max. Definitely not 111 or 117 whatever that website was proposing.

In fact... I think the only thing thats definite right now, is they are going to put up a building that will replace seven world trade, which was a 45 story building if im not mistaken.

I rather like the design. I am a big fan of skyscrapers, this one has some great ideas. whatever they decide, I hope it stays respectable and serves as some kind of memorial.

This is a fanciful "what if." No actual company would ever make claims of "absolute safety" since the Titanic was declared unsinkable.

I agree that nothing is absolute safe. I'm sure a nuclear explosion would level that tower. But I do like the design.
