He's a vet, he'll hang on through the end. He runs to consistent to give it up now, he's got a great pit crew. As long as he finishes around the top 5 the remainder of the season, he'll be OK.

Marlin is done and another veteran has his glory at the top #6. Mark Martin is going to take the points lead at New Hampshire and hold off gordon and stewart to win his first championship, which he truly deserves.

MarTin is a whiner! His mistakes are always someone elses fault. Mr Marlin (AKA The Man) could only be passed, in points, (I hope) by the other big Dodge guy - Mr Mr Elliott

Just got my Winston Cup Scene. That Sterling has held on to first at this point shows just how good he and his team are.

Are you guys ready for this :

Rule changes since the season started :

January - Ford rear spoiler height decreased from 6 1/2 in. to 6 1/4 in.

After qualifying, Ford was allowed to take another 1/4 in. off the spoiler.

After the 125-mile qualifying races, Ford was allowed another 1/4 in. drop.

March - the reference line for Chvey was moved to the same as Ford & Dodge. This made the Chevy 1 1/4 in. longer than before. Ford also was allowed to adjust the rear spoiler again by a 1/4 in. They were allowed to reduce it for the Daytona race (July) by another 1/8 in.

May - Nascar decided to change the maximum bore size for race engines. It only affected Sterling Marlin & Jimmy Spencer who would have 60 illegal engines as of July when the change would go into effect.

Mid June - Pontiac gets an 1/2 in. on the front air dam and a 1/4 in increase in rear spoiler height.

August - Nascar rules a 12.5 gallon tank used in place of the regular 22 gal tank at Talladega. Chevy gets to extend front air dam by 3 1/2 in. forward of the front bumper. A 1 inch increase for Michigan and Darlington. This was made permanent Sept 5.
Pontiac also gets a nose job for these tracks with an additional 1/2 in increase on the front end.

Nascar also doesn't rule out additional changes for Gm & Ford.
No changes for Dodge.

Geez, I thought by now they'd make Dodges run 6/7 Cylinders for the remaining races.

I can see why sponsors are having some creditibility problems with Nascar.

I also hear it all the time that Nascar is 'Tainted' and defending that argument gets harder all the time.

So all in all Sterling has been incredible depsite Nascar and that he still holds first place is a credit to his and the teams' talents.

If he wins another race or two, watch and see what happens to the Gm teams - Mainly Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson and Tony Stewart. Not too concerned about Mark Martin. If he gets in first then we'll also see rule changes for the Gm teams.

Looks like it's a Gm year if Nascar has anything to do with it.

God, what if Dale Jr. was in the running for the championship ???

Can't imagine what changes they'd come up with.

It's even worse in the Truck series.

Nothing has changed in NASCAR's rule dance in thirty years, they always changed the rules to "even the playing field", but it has gotten worse over the past 10 years. They talk about trying to keep costs down yet they make all these changes which cost the teams thousands of dollars each car, why not set the rules at the beginning of the year and leave them alone except for saftey changes? Oh well, its their game I guess they can do what they want.

Yeah, but changing the motor rule in the middle of the seaon for Ganassi teams only - who met all the original enigne standards really sucks. It seems they don't want Sterling to win it. Same for Musgrave in the truck series. 60 motors is a lot of money. And less than 6 weeks to come up with all new power plants (60 motors) is asking an awful lot. Especially during the seaon.

NASCAR gave Dodge such a big aero lead at the start of the season(at the expense of Chevy). Now they have to even the field. Things will get better if they go to a larger common green house.

Marlin droped to 2nd, now it's anyones cup now. Thats why NASCAR is so great.

What Dodge got for the start of the season was the same thing Chevy got last year; RE: Winston Cup Scene.

I hope it doesn't ran Saturday. I'll be at Dover for the Busch race.

It really sucks when it rains there. Did that once, PLEASE don't rain Saturday.
