Baseball Anyone?

Who here is ready for Spring Training? I sure am! I'm not a big hockey fan, and I haven't been into basketball since the MJ era. Though the NCAA basketball ain't looking too bad; especially the Drake Bulldogs this year!!! WOW! Anyway; with baseball, I don't care about the whole steroid thing; it's a BS situation anyway. I'm a diehard, lifelong Cubbie's fan, and hope they do well this year. Who do you like, and think will go all the way this year?

White Sox fan here! I can't wait until the season starts. I was talking to my buddy earlier about which games we want to see. They go on sale this friday!!!

As for the Cubs, they should take the division.

You made me want to switch my avatar. LOL
GO SOX!

I was until all this Mitchell report stuff has made MLB look like a scene from Scarface. Dopers all over the place, now with Clemen's wife implicated? I had to ask my wife, who is a nurse, why she would want to take HGH, and she explained to me for weight loss. Interesting.

I'm a diehard Yankee fan, but after how Joe Torre got the shaft, I might watch a game or two, maybe follow along, but I couldn't care less if they fall flat on their faces. I hope the Steinbrenners lose a boatload of money. As far as I'm concerned, Go Dodgers! And Go Joe Torre! He deserved better, and he deserved to go out on his terms when he felt it was time. The irony, I would love to see it, is the Dodgers face the Yankees in the World Series, and the Dodgers win it all in Yankee Stadium. OMFG would that be a bittersweet end!!!!

I'm in

I've been looking forward to the beginning of baseball season since the end of the World Series, which is the saddest day of the year. I'm becoming a Nationals fan - new team in town and new stadium this year. They were a team of over achievers last year, though they had a losing record, and I'm looking for more of the same this year. They won't win anything important, but it will be fun anyway.

Im hoping to get to a baseball game this season. I didn't get to one last year. Here we have the AAA I-Cubs. They are fun to watch and we sometimes get to see the big leaguers when they are hurt or on exhibition games when Chicago comes to play Iowa. Back a few years ago; they came over and I got to see Rod Beck (R.I.P) pitch, and Sosa play, and get ejected..lol; it was fun!

You have seen Neal Kotts I bet. He was at his best with the Sox in 2005.

Who me? Probably not! I dont really pay attention at who we've got on our team. I just like to go and watch the game and root the team on.

Well, Dave, if you couldn't tell by my tone, I'm pretty PISSED to say the least about how Joe Torre was handled. The guy gets them into the post season EVERY season he has managed them, even in 2007 when they were even lucky to make it. In a year where they had injury after injury after injury, many to starting pitchers, and they still squeaked into a playoff spot. But noooooo, that's not enough. Apparently, he needs to hit, pitch and run for the rest of the team also, since they did diddle shit against the Indians. The only fault I find with Joe Torre in their loss to the Indians was in the last game, that he started Wang again, after getting bombed in the first game. I would have in no way started him. I would have strung together inning by inning of starting pitchers if I had to.

Then you turn around to the "other" NY team. The Mets held first place I think the entire season, only to melt down the last 2 weeks, and on the LAST DAY OF THE SEASON, not only lose first place, but a playoff spot with it. Oh and Willie Randolph still has a job? But Joe Torre doesn't? Don't get me wrong, I like the Mets and especially Willie, I think he's done a fantastic job with the Mets, but comparing how the two teams' seasons unfolded just shows the completely different mentality of the ownership of each.

Hell, this year, I'll start watching Met games to see how Santana translates into an NL pitcher. Ought to be interesting. Especially since he was dominant in the AL, which traditionally has been the hitters league.

I have a very bold prediction for this year -----the Reds will have at least a .500 record and get at least 3rd in the NL Central. I guess that last one wasn't too bold since the only real good teams in the NL Central are the Cubbies and Brew Crew. It is always a toss up who is going to be better after tehm two in this division.
With the additions this year it ought to be the best season in a long, long time for the Reds.

Born in Wisconsin I'm really looking forward to the Brewers making some noise this year. I was disapointed they couldn't get into the show last year.

But now I'm a Michigander I''ve got to get excited about the Tigers batting order. Scary as heck. If the pitching rotation can keep the runs under half a dozen they'll win every day!

The sad thing is of the Yankees, Bo Sox, Tigers and Indians only three of the teams can make it to October. That's a shame. It'll be a wild season I think. Damn I'm getting the fever!
