Toyota in cup for 2006.

Quote:
Toyota to Cup in 2006: The word on the street in the NASCAR garage over the weekend was that Toyota is now expected to debut its Cup cars at the 2006 Daytona 500 and that NASCAR will let Ford, Dodge and GM have new Cup engine designs for that season. That, however, could give Toyota a significant head start, since Toyota this year is running its Cup engine on the Truck tour.(Winston Salem Journal)(5-24-2004)

This is great news.

a better product? no longer does nascar equal real world sales...no matter what they run, it will be as far away from a stock car as they already are...so i dont see how nascar competition will breed a better street product...but to figure out which car they run, it has to be built in the US or canadia, so it shouldnt be too hard to figure out, and if the solara is built in the US, it will probably be that...

I didn't mean product in the way you are thinking.

I mean product as in the sport.

BTW, its spelled "Canada". Its pretty disrespectful to spell it otherwise. You'd be having a fit if someone spelled "America" "Americia".

understandable...i know how its spelled...i just spell it that way anyway...i laugh when people call us floridia, since we are floridians, we must be from floridia, and canadians are from canadia its all meant in fun anyway...and americans are from america, correct?
but competition just leads to more rule changes to make the racing equal like now anyway, so i dont see much changing...if someone starts dominating, they change the rules to even it up...it sucks

But I think that is a good thing. When you level the field that makes the teams have to work to get any advantage they can.

I love Formula 1 but I hate how boring its become because they don't level the field. Its incredibly boring to watch the race when you already know who is going to win.

By 2006 NASCAR will have the new car which will be a spec type body that all mfgs will use so they will even look more the same then they do now.

Just wondering if you have a link to this information. I had not heard that and would like to read up on it a bit. I think it sounds weird, but it would probably be used to level everyone out. I just miss the old racing when you ran what was produced. I think we would have safer, more powerful and efficient cars now on the road if this was the course.
Back on topic, I am really curious to see how they do in the Cup. Will they start just in Busch or jump into Busch and Nextel?

NASCAR calls it the car of tommorrow. It is larger and has more drag.

I think Toyota will jump right into cup just like Dodge did. Rumor has that Toyota will bring in a bunch of badly needed new sponsors.

It's not so surprising that the 'yota bunch will invade 'Cup so soon...
After all, Na$car smelled the big yen potential and coerced the teams representing the Big Three to show the Banzai Boys how to build a large, carbureted engine, which they haven't done since they were flying Zeros into US aircraft carriers (maybe even THOSE were fuel injected, come to think of it).
The product will certainly NOT improve, whether the product is the racing competition or the cars sold to consumers.
The only thing that will benefit is the France's bottom line.

Oh yeah, all of the annoying teenagers with their fart pipe jap cars will be happy.

Maybe this will help put an end to rice. If kids see that cars hafta go close to 200MPH AND be on a track to have stickers on them, they'll realize how stupid their cars look.

they dont have to go 200 to have decals....i see plenty of 100-135 mph cars at plenty of NHRA national events that have loads of decals...the only requirement for decals is it has to be used on the race car at a divisional or national event, not your local friday night drag, and if you can get away with it, make htem magnets and put them on only at the track
heres an example:

NASCAR is looking at fuel injection for the future. The "Banzai Boys" will show the "Good old American rednecks" how to do fuel injection well(Zero's were fuel injected).
