Johnson Wins Nextel Cup

Congrats to Jimmie Johnson for winning the Championship. What a great finish for Johnson for the Chase. If you keep running first or second it's pretty hard to get beat !

Well done Knaus, Johnson and team.

Yep, pretty feel good season for those guys. They really put together the whole package.
Nice going for Team Dodge with Kasey finishing the season with six wins, six poles, and 8th in points too. We'll get'em next year! (If Kurt Busch and co get their heads out of their asses it would help too).

The Avenger is only for the COT races....the Charger will be used in the non-COT races.

Congrats to Jimmie.

Congrats to Johnson.

Kenseth finished 2nd. Not bad since he had many problems in the past few weeks. Next year will be even better.

According to the sources, the stock car version has been approved for use by Dodge teams for both the current Nextel Cup car as well as the Car of Tomorrow version, starting next season.

This coming from a BASEBALL fan?! Now there is a sport that's exciting :P.

Yea, they are going in a circle for 400-500 miles, but isnt that the same in all sports? In football, everyone is going from one side of the field to the other. Same for basketball, hockey, tennis, and soccer. What makes NASCAR exciting (to me anyways) is rooting for certain drivers to succeed and others to fail. It's no different than rooting for your Cardinals to beat whatever team you hate the most (and I hope it's the Yankees). The racing came sometimes get boring....but as long as you have that one person to pull for, then it fun (to me anyways). Being a Sadler fan, I haven't had much fun lately.....

So for my friend in the Salt Lake Plateau:

well watch sportscenter sometime. the only highlights they show from nascar is when there is a crash and then whoever wins. im not knocking it by any means. i just think its more fun to go to a stadium full of people rooting for one team or the other team, opposed to 20 something (i dont even know how many cars race) teams/drivers.

sorry, i hate the cubs the most. the cubs/cardinals rivalry is very similar to the yankees/red sox rivalry (myself and other cardinals fans think it is more intense, but everyone else disagrees). then i hate the astros. and i dont hate the yankees, i just dont like that they have the budget to buy a world series (yet they havent won the world series since 2000)

Well once again the Sportscenter highlights of a race are no different than their highlights of any other sport. In the NFL they only show the touchdowns and who wins. In baseball they only show home runs, and any spectactular catches or double plays. Basketball, they only show dunks and maybe a 3 pointer here and there.

Having everyone rooting for one team in a stadium is good. Even though there are 43 cars every race...only about 25 or so actually will probably be represented by the fans at a racetrack. There are rivalries between fans as well. Especially when it comes to Dale Jr. and Jeff Gordon, everyone either loves them or hates them.

I was actually glad that the Red Sox didn't make the postseason, because everyone acts like they are the only two teams in the league when they play each other. I also hate the Yankees because they try to buy a World Series every year. Unfortunately the Redskins do the same thing in the NFL and all it's done is got them a 3-7 record.

Go to a stadium with 150,000+ fans if you want an experience. Stick and ball sports are nothing compared to the NASCAR experience.

Yeah, spend a weekend in the infield at Daytona, living on beer and ribs, then stand near the fence when 42 cars roll by at 200 MPH. The earth trembles.
