At one time MOPAR used to finish 1-2-3 in NASCAR..
The older guys on the board will remember, I was too young to be interested, but during the late 60's and early 70's the Dodge & Plymouth 426 Chrysler HEMI cars used to finish 1-2-3 in many NASCAR races.
The ford & gm (note lower case letters) camps complained "unfair advantage" so the banned the HEMI on the high banks.
Only for 1 year 1965. Once Mopar but them in 1966 B bodied cars, they where legal again. The 1964 Daytona 500 was the 1st race for the 426 Hemi. Mopar placed 1,2,3 with R. Petty winning the race. Ford tried to get the 427 SOHC motor in too. But Bill France banned it too.
