Idiot in a Durango...

So there we were, on our way home from SC. Heading down 210 just outside Ft. Bragg, cruise set at 65, and I roll by a red Durango. Not 10 seconds later, I hear pipes and the Durango flys by me and slows about two car lengths up. I roll by again, and the idiot flys by again. The third time, as he draws abreast he guns it a couple times, does his little gay flyby, and drops back again. At this point, I signal and get into the left lane, and then get into the left-turn lane to go to the house. I look over to my right and see the idiot hard-stop next to me, and through my tint and his tint I can barely make out the oval of face and brim of trucker-hat staring at me...and I do mean STARING! At this point, with my family in the car, I am doing the quick check of the XD45 on my belt, 'cause I am starting to get a little nervous, as well as annoyed at this point.

Now, the turn lane that I am in goes into the road down to the house. The turn lane the idiot is in goes onto the same road, but once you make the left onto the road, it becomes a right-turn only, so I KNOW what he is going to try...

So, as soon as the light turns green and I hit the straight after the turn, foot meets floor. We were even until I hit second, at which point I started pulling on him by half a length...then a length when I hit third...and then he had to back off as the end of his lane was forthcoming...so he tucks in behind me, amazingly enough at a reasonable interval and not right on my ass like I anticipated...and as soon as oncoming traffic provides him room, I again hear pipes and he flys on by, narrowly missing a front-end collision with oncoming traffic!

Why do people persist in trying me? For the love of whatever, it is a four-door family car!

Although I bet he heard no end of crap from his friends for being spanked my a family car! :icon_cool

I lived in Fayetteville for 2 years........I hated that place. I got taken out by a careless driver on my motorcycle on Raeford Rd and Owen Dr. I was back there visiting a friend last weekend. I wasn't in town more than 10 minutes and about got T-Boned on Cliffdale. There are so many inconsiderate drivers in that town. Glad I moved!

I had to google what an XD45 was, and almost shit my pants when I did. Is carrying a gun really that common down there? Stories like this make me think twice about visiting the states.

Relax.............only a few carry guns. Mostly, the ones that do, do it legally. Don't think of it as "The Wild West".

It happens a lot with me in the M. And to make matters worse, I have R/T and HEMI badges on her. So I get tons of fart cans coming up to me and flying by me. 90% of the time, they get humiliated by a luxury family sedan.

Still, what on earth would make you need to carry a handgun?

sounds like it must of been the 5.2 or 5.9. Unless they come in 6 bagger but I am not sure on that. I test drove a 5.9 darango and it was so slow it was pathetic for that big of a motor. If it was the 4.7 (is in my jeep) it most likely would of been the other way around. Fun times.

They don't call it (Fayetteville) "Fayette-Nam" for nothing...

In my neighbourhood, there were three break-ins in a week's time, and some dumbass went flying down the road and hit a kid. Keep in mind that my road through the apartments is a two lane with 25mph limit, and there are ALWAYS cars parked on the side of the road, so I usually do about 25-30 when turning into the road, and coast the rest of the way down, usually going about 15 when I get to my apartment.

One of the guys that I work with got accosted at the ATM for a handout, and when he refused he was threatened and had to pull his pistol to scare the guy off.

So yeah, I carry a gun, and I am more than willing to clear leather/kydex in order to defend myself and my family.

2000 Dodge Intrepid ES, 3.2l... four doors, family sedan. When you get right down to it, it is a family car no matter what mods we do to it...I like to think of it as a family sedan with sports-car pretensions...

I don't think it is legal to carry in cali...don't know for sure, but I seem to remember it being hard to get, or damn near unobtainable...but if you choose to carry, I would highly recommend the XD45 compact...fairly light for a large-caliber pistol, 10 rounds in the small mag, comfortable to wear for long periods, and is the sweetest-shooting weapon I have ever fired.

Lmao, I wasnt looking for gun suggestions. Guns scare the crap out of me, sometime it even freaks me out when I see cops with them.
