Thumbs down The Normally Aspirated LH Record Holder

Group,
Here is the data from the Normally Aspirated Record Shattering runs that were made yesterday (11/23/2008) at Edgewater Sports Park in Cleves, OH (my home track)

Weather wise, it was a perfect day.....track opened at 1000 it was ~ 30 degrees, the barometric pressure was 30.41, and the humdity was dropping like a stone. It was a beautiful sunny day...just a little cold for the humans.

By the time racing began at 1115, it had warmed up some...
it was 35 degrees, the barometric pressure was around 30.39, and the humdity was in the 40%.

We did the standard race prep (interior, spare tire, fuel under 1/8th tank)
We used my homebrew race gas (4 gallons of 93 octane, 1 gallon of Xylene 117 octane, and 1 quart of Marvel Mystery Oil) That gave us an effective octane rating of 97.8. The car ran flawlessly....never skipped a beat (only a missed shift by Autostick after a burnout give us a poor run)

FWIW, the driver of the car weighed ~ 180 lbs...I don't use an ultra skinny driver, My friend Steve is of average weight.

So, here we go...

Time: 1127
R/T: .780
60': 2.060
330': 6.071
1/8th mile: 9.395
MPH: 74.63
1000': 12.233
1/4 mile: 14.668
MPH: 92.68

Time: 1210
R/T: .350
60': 2.042
330': 6.047
1/8th mile: 9.380
MPH: 74.12
1000': 12.220
1/4 mile: 14.656
MPH: 92.49

Run #3 there was no slip for
It was a 14.644

Run #4 (below) was the run the Autostick shift mishap happened, and Dennis (Headhunter) beat the car!!
Time: 1348
R/T: .674
60': 2.520
330': 7.134
1/8th mile: 10.675
MPH: 71.02
1000': 13.596
1/4 mile: 16.074
MPH: 90.78

(BTW, Dennis ran a 15.786 @ 87.92)

Run #5 is the fastest run of the day, and is the new all time record run (Normally Aspirated) At the time of the run the weather conditions were:
Temp: 46 degrees
Barometer: 30.31
Dewpoint: 13
Humdity: 35%
Density Altitude: -656 feet
Relative Density: 101.93 %

Time: 1353
R/T: .390
60': 2.017
330': 6.015
1/8th mile: 9.343
MPH: 74.18
1000': 12.183
1/4 mile: 14.627
MPH: 91.98

Time: 1431
R/T: .168
60': 2.031
330': 6.036
1/8th mile: 9.370
MPH: 74.17
1000': 12.209
1/4 mile: 14.645
MPH: 92.42

Run #7 we did not get a slip for, but it was a 14.71

Time: ?
R/T: .450
60': 2.072
330': 6.079
1/8th mile: 9.413

1/4 mile: 14.689

Time: 1553
R/T: .359
60': 2.115
330': 6.128
1/8th mile: 9.464
MPH: 74.11
1000': 12.306
1/4 mile: 14.745
MPH: 92.14

Run #10 was the last run of the season for us, and the track.
Time: 1557
R/T: .534
60': 2.289
330': 6.320
1/8th mile: 9.669
MPH: 73.79
1000': 12.518
1/4 mile: 14.968
MPH: 91.84

While taking the slicks off, we realized why the traction was getting worse for us as the afternoon progressed...the slick on the passenger side had 90% of the cords showing and the driver side had ~ 5% cords showing. The slicks gave up the ghost.....but not before giving me 3 full seasons of racing pleasure (and the Red Baron before that) These slicks pushed 2 cars to the same record....

We still have a few things in the pipeline, the reworked valve body, and the heads. I guess I'll have to add new slicks to that list!!

This has been a long time coming, and I have many people to thank:
-My wife and family
-Tyler Schmidt
-Steven Chesser
-Don Scruggs (Red Baron)
-Ross Wakefield (TorontoFireCaptain)
-Dennis Miller (HeadHunter)

I'm sure that I am forgetting many individuals...but I thank everyone that had a hand in this.

I ran my winter tires/wheels yesterday...Brodgestone Potenza RE950's 225/60-16 H speed rated. During the summer, I run the 205/70/15's Goodyear's off the minivan I used to have.

What size tires are you running up front for the slicks? More than likely it's a smaller diameter rim, but if it's not, i have a full set of 245/40/18 BFGoodrich R1's sitting in the garage. I bought them off a buddy who ran them a few laps of a track day on his Evo. I was thinking they would make fun summer tires, but w/ the Michigan weather i'm not sure i want to be on a wet road with these. They're basically a DOT street legal drag slick w/ minimal siping. Right now they're just taking up space in the garage. If you have any use for them, let me know.

Congrats. Your fastest run was also one of your slowest speeds and it wasn't even your best R/T i'd like to know on New Slicks what it would do.

Nice runs.. I have a question tho..
Your R/T, I was told here in town (by an official) you get disqualified if your R/T is less than .500 because they accuse you of jumping the gun.
Is it a rule change that has not been enforced, or was I being given a line?

I think it depends whether they use LED's or not. At my local strip, it says at the top of the timeslip "The perfect R/T is now .000 and any negative number is a redlight." My best is a .010. Regardless, it doesn't effect your ET whether the R/T is .005 or .500.
