My cars first accident, and it wasn't even running

First off I didn't know if this is the right section, but I figured it's a pretty crazy story so this forum would be appropriate.

So, the beginning of the summer I was at my girlfriends mom's house. Everyone was outside, including the neighbors and their kids. My girlfriend and I decided to sit down in the back seat of my intrepid because there wasn't anywhere else to sit. So the little neighbor kid who is 5 years old came up to the car and wanted to sit it in. I said ya sure hop in so he gets into the drivers seat. He's doing the little kid thing holding onto the steering wheel pretending hes driving. At the time I didn't think anything of it, just harmless fun. Well, the car was parked on a bit of an incline and I usually park with my emergency brake, but that one day I didn't for some reason. So of course, the kid threw the shifter into neutral and my car went rolling down the incline. My girlfriend went up and threw the shifter into park but we were going so fast already it kept going. Helplessly I look behind me and my intrepid smashes into the front of a big Ford F-150. This is a good thing though because if that truck wasn't there, we would have rolled out into a pretty busy road, that would have only ended horribly.

So my right rear end of my baby got all smashed in. Had to replace the tailight, bang out my quarterpanel, and luckily my bumper didn't crack and we were able to push it back out normal. I remember seeing the recall on the shifterlock, but never thought it was really a big deal.

So, my 15 year old car had its first accident haha. I was pretty angry at first, but then I realized it could have been a lot worse. The truck was fine too, needed a new headlight but thats it.

I'm still waiting to try and fix the spot up a bit, going to bondo and fiberglass it up so it looks a little better. The quarterpanel was already rusted pretty bad so when it smashed, it gave away easily.

bummer, get that interlock fixed! You might want to consider getting a quarter from the junkyard. That looks like some significant rust. I also have some light surface rust starting on the passengers rear quarter but in front of the wheel. I believe this is cause from the quarter wheel well seam deteriorating and letting water behind the panel. My idea was to bring a sawzall to the yard and just cut out what I needed then MIG weld it back then sand and paint. If you dont have access to a welder they do sell some body seam compound epoxy that is suppose to work really well. Just some suggestions....good luck
