SRT8 Jeep Grand cherokee gets called out..

Update: We've been getting called outall week long and tonight we will see what the SRT8 Jeep is capable of. Later tonight or in the morning, we will post a few links to the videos.
We were called out by quite a few cars, and we chose a few for different reasons.
wrs sti : we chose this one because its an all wheel drive like the jeep. that particular car is on a 125 shot of spray.

Another jeep grand cherokee SRT8 is calling us out also. Its got a few gooddies too. After the run, he will probably ask us to do cam and headers for him. Or we think so anyway.

Next is a supposed to be a 11 second Dodge Dart with a super 340. Yeah it may or may not beat us, but i think he will have to chase us down in the 1/4 because of the traction issues he will have on street tires. We dont have traction prolems as you might havealready guessed. The Jeep really hooks. Made me nauseous when i rode in the passenger seat on launch.

So if we get the time, thats our lineup for the night. We will post videos later.

This is a clip of our project Jeep. My nephew, My son, and myself. Weve been working on this SRT8 Jeep that belongs to my nephew. Just thought you guys would appreciate this sound clip. Its first crank up after the mods. My nephews a tech at a local dodge dealership, so we will bring it in to reflash and make a few adjustments. As you can hear, it wont idle too well, but that will be corrected on monday. What do you think?

Cam
Long Tube Headers
racing heads
New fuel management system
New ecm flash
Borla Exhaust
a few other goodies totalling about 9K
Inital cost of the jeep about 48K

What a rush this thing is going to be. Its a beast at launch. Listen and tell us what you think. I hope its ok to run this thread since its not about a trep. If this is a no no, just say so and i wont do it again. Have fun..

The link to the video is down for maintenance. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm a big fan of the SRT8's Jeeps.

Threads about non Intrepids. All welcome. The only non Intrepid stories that bore me is stories about members other cars that are an obvious kill and the write about it.
Like I avoid telling stories about how I killed a full sized V6 sedan in my Mustang. Big man.
Stories about sleepers like GranCherokees surprising some unsuspecting teenagers, I like.

Well, actually my son is the driver, and my nephew is the tech. I guess they hit me up for the money hahaha. The three of us are on another forum here locally. All of our cars are sleepers. Well, sorta We have a 350Z thats kicking V-8's all over the city. No one expects the little white car to be so fast. I dont know if i can mention the site, but its http://www.nostreetracing.org/
(let me know if i am not supposed to do that.) I'm still learning the ropes here. that stands for New Orleans Street Racing and were having fun with these cars. We get called out with the Z at least twice a week. The SRT8 is the newest of our toys. Everyone expects it to be kinda fast, so we know many will come with bigger and badder. But they arent expecting it to be "This" fast. Its all in good fun. We always have the trep as our family sedan, to keep our innocent look. Who knows, maybe we will get around to putting the 5.7 Hemi in the trep. Probably not until spring. Gotta put aside a few bucks for that one. Theres another guy here doing a V-8 in a trep, but i think its a chevy. Imagine a Hemi in this body. But not a stock Hemi for sure. I was thinking 500 HP at the wheels. Not sure what the numbers are on the jeep. The Z is 408 at the back wheels.

I will get some videos of the jeep from a dig soon.

Having fun
Bill.....

Wow we raced alot of cars tonight. I think youll be surprized to see the results. By the way, the super 340 Dodge Dart, was a no show. We left him a message on the nostreetracing.org that says... Bawwk bawk bawwwwk bawk bawk
hahaha.. I hope you will all enjoy this thread. The intrepid did make an apearance tonight, but only as the starter car. I wish i had time to install the hemi. One step at a time i guess.

videos now up

The results of the Jeep racing against STI with a 125 shot of nitrous. Raced him several times and , well you be the judge. The STI's times at the track are low 12's

Were going to take the jeep out to the track to run some times in a week or so.
Heres the video...

Why do you say that? Whats your opinion on the turbo vs supercharger? My experience is very good with the supercharger. Besides that, i dont like the turbo lag. Our 350z responds off the line incredibly with the sc. We are laying down like 408 at the wheels with the z. I am curious to know what kind of numbers the jeep is putting down.
Anyone who wants to put in their thoughts on turbo vs sc is welcome.

That srt8 is just a pure monster. I wouldn't want to be filling up that tank though especially thinking about how fast you must go through it now lol. But it is one nice ride.

Well, it does suck gas, but maybe not as bad as i thought. Probably about 17 overall. However, with injectors scheduled to be changed, (much much bigger) i am sure it will drop even more. If we go to the supercharger, its not a good idea to get too lean. But if gas efficiency was our goal, it surely wouldnt be fast right? hahaha...
The Jeep is indeed a monster, and were adding more mods. I will try to post the changes made to the monster in videos of the future. I hope to share the fun were having with the people of this forum. It seems were getting called out more and more often. We havent been beat yet, but i'm sure its comming. In the process, were turning heads because some people dont expect a jeep to kick their ass. Its always funny to see the looks on their faces when we leave them at the line. Stay tuned to comming mods.

Thanks for your interest,

Bill.....
