ES vs. Colorado

Yeah yeah yeah, so it's a truck...

Anyway, my buddy and I were on our way home from the hangar this morning, me in my ES, and him in his Colorado, and we live off of the same road so we both take the same way home. The start of our road is a two lane, with the right lane a turn-only lane. I started in front at the stoplight, crossed at the green, and when we hit the two lane he swung right to pass me. I let him get to about the rear door and then dropped the hammer on him. He got to about the front door when I hit third and began to pull away...at that point he had to drop back behind me to get out of the turn lane...I love it when people don't think that the Trep can go fast...even though we only got up to about 80 or so.

I may be wrong but the Equinox kinda shares the same platform as the trailblazer. Which there was a V8 option for it.

Time for the old GM guy to chime in lol. The equinox is what replaced the Tracker and it came with a 4 or v6. It is as far as you can get from a Trailblazer and still be chevy.

Equinox (or Pontiac Torrent) is equipped with a 185HP 3.4 v6. The 2008 model has an optional 3.6L v6 with 265HP - that could beat Avenger's Trep.

hmmm I knew about the 3.4 didn't know about the 3.6. I still think that because it's geared more like a truck then a car it would pull like crazy at first then the power would just drop off.
By the way GTP+ES what year GTP do you have? I just had to get rid of my gp intrested to know what you have done to the l67.

Truck gearing plus 5-speed auto helps - as you suspected.
My '99 GTP has basic bolt-ons: 3.5" pulley, MSP CAI, 3" downpipe with Magnaflow hi-flow cat (still stock catback), colder spark plugs, 180F thermostat and custom reprogrammed Overkill PCM. Toss in a few suspension mods and that's it.

It was the 185HP one :( I was rolling, and before I noticed, he had it floored......and I couldn't catch him with 2 others in my car.
