I usually donít post races but this is too good

Ok I was on my war to return a rented movie when I stopped at a gas station to get a drink. On the way in an older guy saw my car and said “Kids these days think any car is fast” so I said “sorry grampa but not all of us are lucky enough to drive a power scoter” then I continued into the store and bought my Pepsi. When I get on the 2 lain road heading to the video stor I stop at a red light and the old guy that was just talking $*&% about my car is in the other lane. Of corse he had to be in a Honda civic si. When he notices I am next to him he revs he engine. I couldn’t resist. Light turned green and I smoked the $*&# out of him. when the next light turned red I stopped for it willing to go again. The old guy runs the light, maybe he just didn’t want to go again or maybe his brakes couldn’t stop him in time. I’ll never know

Granted, most Civics out there are older, tired little econoboxes with little 1.6 liter engines; but the late model SI’s are something that you have to be careful about. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure with their 11:1 compression ratio, high revving, v-tec engines with well geared transmissions with a limited slip diff, all in a car that probably has only barely broken the 1.5 ton mark with the driver in it, you’d have your work cut out for you to beat them in a red light “shootout” if the driver knew what they were doing. Not to point the finger of shame (because lord knows I’ve done the same thing many times before), but I do agree that driving the Intrepid, you were driving the far less likely car to actually be quick.
That being said, crotchety old men are always funny, and it sounds like you came across a particularly angry one.

Funny thing....

happened to me a little over a year ago when I first got to Bragg. I was in the SMR's inbriefing, and he asked what kind of car I drove. When I told him that it was a Dodge Intrepid, he told me that" he had better not catch me drag racing out in Fayetteville"...

...i just looked at him for a few seconds before replying "it's a 4-door family sedan"...talk to the guy next to me who drives the tricked out Mustang!

A guy I work with has a brand new (< 1year) civic SI with a few minor mods, and he completely smokes my 3.2. We've never actually seen who could go faster overall...mostly just quick drags between stoplights. I'm guessing that grandpa was driving like most grandpas do Beware of someone without sloth-like reflexes in a brand new civic SI though, since theres a good chance you'd lose in a quarter-ish distance.

I test drove a new civic-sir a couple of years ago ( I had a 1989 si hatchback at the time ) and was very dissapointed in the power. As I left the salesman's office I told him " I think I'll keep my 89 " and his exact words to me " I don't blame you "

lol someone had to run home and change his depends lol
nice kill mabey that would keep him quiet untill the next kid he sees

hmm never happen to me lol
last time i had a run in with an elder he drove up next to me and was just staring at the car for like a mile till the next light so he stops right next to me and does the whole roll my window down....
well tint he couldnt see me so i took off and well i needed some gas and well looked who followed... well he gets out and comes over while im getting gas and i hear this
"hi there,What kinda car you call that?" i say intrepid blah blah blah and what stuff ive done to it..
so he says something like(not word for word) all i can says is that is a very clean car and went on how he liked the rims tucked in something about classic cars and what he drove and how much he was into the exhaust some thing about oldschool.and well it went from a 5 minute pumping gas to about 20 mins just bsing back and forth.. he had to be in his 60smabey early 70s..
