The 1.4 is confirmed as a powerplant choice in the dart....mind you, in its turbo configuration. Its not terrible. Any 4 cylinder motor that goes into a Journey, is not gonna be enough. Especially if you plan on pulling any steep grades in it. Doesn't help they mated it to the 4 spd.....a good 6 speed maybe, but not the 4 speed.

Sadly, Chrysler is moving towards the less mechanical transmissions, which means they need to program them right.....and its not happening yet.

I love the 3.5l engine they're using now. Its a powerhouse, and still gets decent mileage. The new 2.5 isn't too bad either for smaller cars. (sebring, 200 and avenger come to mind)

I can say from experience the 4 bangers aren't bad around town, but don't expect blistering performance, and don't think you'll be climbing hills very fast if you're driving a Journey with one.

Even the Fiat 500 can climb a 6% grade and accelerate.....in 3rd gear. But it weighs about half what a comparably equipped Journey does.

I see good things in the future for Chrysler/Fiat........key word in that is FUTURE.

As for my "don't feed the trolls" comment....I meant don't encourage them to mate that 4 cylinder with ANYTHING bigger than a 200/avenger.

chrysler is going to be big time again. they're going to just 2 or 3 transmissions, 1 v6 (down from 7, 2.7, 3.5, 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, 4.0, 4.0i). they're cutting so much extra cost out of their manufacturing that i *hope* they will start making some seriously badass cars.

good time to live in kokomo, going to be making all their transmissions, as well as casting and rough machining all 3.6 blocks.
