So I went to look at a '90 Mitsu Mighty Max tonight. Cheap Money. Here's the catch - It needs an ECU. Engine turns over like a champ, but has no spark and no gas. Is there a way to diagnose this for sure? All fuses and relays checked out. It's $200 to have the ECU rebuilt. Asking price is $500, I think I could get it for $400. Frame looks ok. No holes. Rusty, but still in-tact. Interior is actually in pretty good shape. 5 speed, 4WD. Little banged up, nothing too bad. Tires are great. Any input on the possible ECU issue? TIA...

I have a 1990 Mitsubishi Van (its actually called "Van" in the brochure:icon_cool), Its almost the same thing as your Mighty Max, except its in van form lol. I'll check the FSM and get back to you on your problem.
Had the SAME problem with one here that we had. We ended up junking the whole truck after going on for around 2 weeks of shop work doing a lot of stuff to it. I'm not sure if theres a way to make sure that the ECU IS bad, of course go to a junk yard and pull a used one and check.
If you can get it for $400, Its not that bad of a deal. Their pretty good on gas
