We're not up on LX cars for the most part.
2005 was the first year of production for LX cars. I avoided anything from that year and ended up with a 2006 Magnum SRT-8 which had no problems all the way until the time I sold it.
The 2005 5.7L had those funky "Shorty" Spark plug wires instead of the Coil on Plug with the rest of the LX line. Another reason to avoid the 2005 MY.
1st Year Production Issues, Ahh, This I Knew VERY VERY Well And Well Thought Of... But, I Gotta Tell My Story....
What I Really Wanted Was a '06+ 3.5 V6 AWD With Sun/Moonroof and Steering Wheel Controls. But, Because These Things Are Rare Which Makes Them Hard To Find, (Especially The '06 and Up R/T And SRT's) And That Makes Them Pretty Pricey When You Do Find One, Even The Base Models With 3.5 and 2.7 Engines (W/O Sun/MoonRoof) Are Selling High Price Too, And I Don't Have Nor Am I Willing To Drop A Couple Of Gs On A Built And Ready To Go Unit, Basically I Wanted A Fixer Upper..... But, Anyways, Now I'm Realizing That There Were Significant Design Changes/Upgrades From '06 & Up. Makes Me Wish My Find was Really A '06+..... 😒😓😒😓..
So, Things is, Family Size Unexpectedly Grew, Hauling Around 4+ (Adults) In My Sedans Basically Turned Into A Grave Inconvenience, Especially Grocery Shopping E.T.C. (Yes, I'm The Only One Who "Can" Drive "Right Now")... So I Was Gonna Go A Truck/SUV Route, Only Soul Satisfactory Option Would Be A Pentastar Engine Jeep Or Those New Sexy Looking Explorers (But, I Don't Like The EcoBoot "ONLY" Option In The Explorer, That Was A No-No And A Turn-Away). So, Anyway, Those Option Seemed Far Fetched For Me. Although, I've Been Looking For A Magnum Way Before The Desperate Need Arose, Like, A Really-REALLY Long Time, (I'd Literally Stare At Any Magnum I Saw, Especially A Nice And Sweet Looking One, They Look So Gorgeous To Me) Untill I Stumbled Upon This One, And It Had EVERY Option That I Wanted (Except That It Was A '05 Model 😓) And It Was A̶l̶m̶o̶s̶t̶, Basically A Steal (Or Well, Perhaps, It Seemed To Be, At The Time) , It Came With It's Problems, I Was Aware Of It, (Although I didn't Fully Understand The Extent, At The Time, Lol) The Owner Just Bought It Few Months Prior And Couldn't/Didn't Wanna Deal With The Shop Repair Expenses... After I Went And Check it Out/Drove It Couple Of Times, It Drove Quite Well, I Instantly Liked it. The Presenting Problems "Seemed" Like Something I Could Tackle.
Meanwhile, At The Price On The Table, I Was Anxious, Anxious About Buying A Lemon, And Anxious Of Loosing It, At The Same Time... My Anxiety Was Growing Daily, By The Hour, That's All I Could Think About (At The Time, Lls) I Almost Seemed Desperate And Helpless, 😛😛... So, Naturally, I Couldn't Let It Slip Away.... But, I Rest Here, My Future With it Is Still Being Written, I don't Quite Know How It'll End....
Sounds like you're in for some not so fun times with that one...especially if it was a flood car. Better check the CarFax and see where it came from.
Fun times, Yes. This I Know, Probably Will Be The Most Agonizing Automotive Wrenching Fun That I'll Ever Have, But, I'll Keep My Fingers Crossed.
But, This is Not The Flood Car [Thankfully 🙏🙏], The Intrepid Is. I Ran Some Number On Some Free VIN Check Sites and It Checked Out Good, Down To The Last Registration Of The Owner That I Bought It From. And It Seem To Have Been In This Area All It's Life (So That's A Good Thing I Suppose.. 🤔🤔🤔)
