Really kind of envying you Nate, a nice little project, easily replacable parts, and will be a cheap and fun driver when you are done.

Round 2 of Trans clean up

Cylinder number one was pretty wet...

Head:

Pretty decent wear on the cam shafts, not sure how much is too much.

My crankshaft sprocket removal apparatus. what a SOB that was.

Left is number 2: the spun rod bearing. Not sure if it's salvageable or not. I will put some calipers on it to see if it's still in spec. Definitely needs to get cleaned up though:

The offending bearing:

Rods and caps. Lightweight rods!:

Turbo

Laundry list so far

So I need to see if I can save the crank. Need to have the head decked, possibly rebuilt? Not sure what kind of head work I need to do. Turbo needs to be evaluated for rebuild as well. All new bearings and new heavyweight rods.

This is looking good! I wish I had the resources to do this with the turbo Laser sitting in my back yard. It's an '86 XE, same color as that daytona with black leather interior... :(

Your build is amazing sir!!!!! You could eat out of that engine compartment I could potentially be in the market for just about anything you got engine wise

Love the 1st gen laser styling, These cars are amazingly easy to work on, don't need a lot of special equipment. I need to hurry up and take the crank to work to measure it up... kinda lollygagging waiting for the finances to shore back up again. Babies are expensive!! Hoping to get that done this weekend, as well as drop the front crossmember.

Are you still rebuilding the engine?

Something to consider: The 2.0/2.4(neon) head, including the 2.4 head and mitsubishi 420 head, can be swapped onto the 2.2/2.5 block. Makes for a pretty awesome engine, and opens up an entirely different array of performance parts to you.
