GM ( Goverment Motors ) has set the price on the New Chevy Volt at $41,000.00. After the USSR Goverment tax rebate (Paid by us tax payers) of $7.500.00 it will cost $33,500.00. Yea they are really going to fly off the lots, with gas at $2.75 a gallon. I think not, another miss by GM.
may the volt go down in flames, sorry, but i really think the japs have GM beat hands down
every company needs to have its Edsel,, guess GM got theres, but, the tree huggers will love it
Except this will be the seccond time with a similar concept. Remember the EV1.I guess at least the Volt has an engine and is not as limited in range however unless you are taking advantage of the volt's electric only feature there is no reason to buy one. You could buy a Cruze which is basically the same car without the battery for about half the price of a Volt. Even if you use the Volt for only short commutes that allow it to run on battery only I still dobut you will save the over $15000 price difference over the life of the vehicle. Actually I just ran the numbers and if you drive 12000 miles a year it will take about 13 years to use $15000 in gas (I used a $4 per gallon average to cover any likely increase in gas prices)in a Cruze so even if you drive the Volt in EV only mode all the time (this limits its range to about 40 miles) and never use a drop of gas it will still take 13 years to make up the price difference.
