Post 2011 Vauxhall VXR8 is all we really want for the holidays

Listen, General Motors. We know you’re kinda busy getting back on track, jump-starting your IPO, and generally getting your house in order. We appreciate it and everything. But could we ask just one favor? You see this Vauxhall? Could you bring it over to this side of the Atlantic, please? You don’t have to bring Pontiac back to do it, no matter how many people are still looking it up on Google. You can slap a Bowtie badge on the nose heck you can make it a Buick if you want. Call it a Daewoo for all we care. Just bring it here.

What we’re talking about is the new Vauxhall VXR8, and it could very well be the best performance sedan The General offers this side of the Cadillac CTS-V. And it’s just undergone a series of updates, complete with a restyled front end, tail and interior, along with some new gizmos to keep all the power in check.

The VXR8 is based on the Holden Commodore, but instead of the hot ClubSport R8 model on which the previous Vauxhall was based, the new model starts with the new E3 GTS just launched in Australia. That means a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 with 425 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque kept in line by new Magnetic Ride Control and Launch Control systems, driving through a six-speed transmission (automatic or manual) and a mechanical diff for a 4.9-second sprint to 60 mph and an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

There are plenty more reasons to want this muscle sedan on American shores, pronto, and you can read all about ‘em in the press release after the jump. We just hope someone at the RenCenter is listening.

Nahhh, that is more like the G8.
The Caprice police car is based on the same car.

The Vauxhall Monaro was turned into the Pontiac GTO

I've wanted one of these since top gear did a segment on it. the supercharged bathurst edition sounds so damned incredible.

Listen GM....here's what I want: Holden Commodore in 3 flavors for the US

First and MOST important: Chevrolet Impala replacement. The current Impala is a cruel joke from a dead company known as "old GM" and it should have died with old GM! A new Impala with RWD with the same powertrains and electronic goodies as the Camaro can get would make a viable alternative to the LX and new Taurus.

While we're on the subject....steal the exhaust manifolds off of the Z06 and put them on the Camaro SS damnit! There's no excuse for that POS you call a manifold on the new Camaro! (its not anything close to a "log" manifold and it certainly isn't equal length!)

New Cadillac STS and STS-V.....with Delphi electromagnetic dampers and a new Northstar to go along with it as options on the STS and standard on the V. No pushrods in my 60-70K BMW fighter please! (5.7 litres.....32 valves...DOHC with quad cam phasers with direct injection....can you just hear the noise? Combo should make about 460bhp NA and 570+ SC.)

New Buick Lucerne.....take my idea for an Impala and give it the Buick treatment. Sell only two variants....Lucerne CXL with a 5.3L V8 and plenty of options (HID and nav standard please!) and a GS version with a 6.2L LS3, a lower stance and a stiffer damping setup.

CAFE shouldn't be an issue....use a good transmission and Active Fuel Management. If it is...turbocharge the 3.6VVT in lieu of the V8.

I bet all of them would sell like hotcakes. All are flagship models of their brands, so they shouldn't be and do not need to be priced too cheaply as to make my visions impossible.

With a little fresh thinking, Detroit can rise again.

2004 300M Special...257K miles. Original powertrain!

I'm liking some of your ideas!
