Chrysler Pacifica - Transmission Range Sensor issues

My mother's 04 Chrysler Pacifica that is giving me troubles. The transmission range sensor is acting up. It has been displaying "Vehicle not in Park" and "Memory System Disabled" on the cluster.

I did some research and found it was likely a ground issue. Before I cleaned the negative cables and added an extra heavy-gauge ground cable from the block it would not turn over. Now with the grounds cleaned up and an extra cable it will now START AND DRIVE BUT it still displays "Vehicle not in Park" even though it shouldn't even start when it thinks its in gear.

Weird, I know.

Anybody have a clue what might be going on?

The ecu might just need to be reset, did you pull the battery ground to reset it? Or maybe just pull the fuse.

Update - eventually we did figure out the issue to those who were curious. I had my cousins, who run a diesel mechanic shop, put new motor and tranny mounts on it. While they had those out they discovered 3 or 4 ground wires hidden way out of normal view that were rotted nearly in two.

Yeah, this one has 91k. I read somewhere that the factory that made them were back-ordered at one point, that's how widespread the mount problem is.

It STILL has a box around all the gears when its in park, which ain't right, but at least it runs and drives now.

It's kinda sad these things have so many problems because it really is quite a nice ride, dark purple color, black leather interior, and all the options available that year. Although the 3.5L is not quite enough for the all-wheel-drive setup.

Wanna say I hung out my ex yesterday, and she was driving her parents' Pacifica.... Gas pedal needs oiled, speedo sticks, it's knocking/ticking (not sure which it was obvious though), needs brakes, and needs a motor mount.... Been about a year since I'd last road in it and damn it's gotten bad and they don't drive it hard either.... I was slightly afraid that I was gonna die and kept telling my current girlfriend so LOL
