Bought a Pacifica

So we bought a 2004 Pacifica Touring AWD for my fiance, brilliant black with chrome accent just like she wanted. went and signed up at a pacifica forum and starting looking through some threads. hopefully this is just a premature conclusion, but that forum is a let down. one thread there are multiple people complaining about bosch plugs giving them fits, and another about replacing their O2 sensors 3, 4, and 5 times within a year... I think ill just trust myself with the car.

Wow - I hope you find as good a forum for support for the new car as you have had from this one...

Congrats on the new purchase - post up pics?

My mom has one and I like driving it but hate working on the cussed thing.

The 04s had the best interior. In 05 they stripped out all the goodies to save a few bucks. The 3.5 and 4 speed auto are slow and thirsty.

Beware of the motor mounts, they are crap. Also they are known for electrical gremlins, especially the 04 models. Ground wires under the battery are notorious for corroding and causing a lot of problems so be sure to clean them now before it gives you any trouble. I added a heavy battery cable from the block to the battery and that helped. The ones from the factory were waay undersized and break.

Uhhhh Bosch plugs in ANY Chrysler gives trouble, not just the Pacifica,,, yes the motor mounts are trash,, I have a 07 with a 3.8 base model,, and have the dreaded code po420, but being a ex long term lease car, with 125K on it, its not a bad car,

nice. We have an 05 touring that looks almost exactly like that. great family mover, although I wish it got better gas mileage on the highway. If we cracked up the one we have we'd buy another one.

we got it last month, she isn't very careful with her right foot so she's only getting 17-19mpg but highway it will hit 24 if its nice and flat. need to do the timing belt and water pump this summer along with plugs and throttle body cleaning, THANK GOD this thing has the throttle body out in the open and i don't have to take it off to clean it.

best news is that the lot that had it spent almost 2grand in repairs when they took it on trade, all new brakes including calipers, coolant flush and thermostat, alternator and belt. lots of maintenance that is usually ignored has already been taken care of.

I like Pacifics...that said

The Pacifica is the perfect example of poor business practice (stupidity) by Chrysler. In my mind the Pacifica was one of the first crossovers and instead of refining it or even completely redoing it and keeping the name Chrysler once again dropped a name. Why is it they cant see what every other car company can? I bet Chrysler has dropped more cars than Ford and GM combined.

How common is the 3.8?

Pacifica may be on my short list soon.

I think the 3.8 was in 06 and up, usually base models, but even those have leather,, 6 disc with dvd, heated seats,, blah blah

I had recent thoughts of buying a Pacifica but the stories about motor mounts, O2 Sensors and the rest have chased me away. Sounds to be worse reliability than an LH?
