Bittersweet day in the Auto world.

Ford's oldest plant closed in Dearborn today. Henry made the model T there. The Mustang was born there, and produced for almost 40 years. Today the last '04 Mustang rolled off the line. A red GT drop-top. They held a big celebration, parking the last GT next to the very first '64 Mustang produced there.

They are getting ready to start production of the '05's in another plant, still in Michigan. Bittersweet day, no doubt. I get chills thinking of all the iron that has rolled out their doors. Fairlanes, T-Birds, Galaxies, Cougars and others were built there also.

So is that the last of production for the '04 Mustangs, or are they still being built at another plant until the '05s start production?

On a similar note, the very last Oldsmobile was produced a week or so ago, officially ending America's oldest car brand.

As far as I know, all Mustangs were built there. They are set to begin the '05 production line in the Fall. I'd imagine Mustangs will be pretty scarce at the delaerships by the end of the summer, especially if they offer good deals on them to move em out.

Yea, sorry to see Oldsmobile end myself. Had pretty nice cars IMO. The last one was an Alero.

Aleros are not nice cars my mother has one.... That thing is a real hunk of junk.

I tried to talk her into taking my Intrepid before I traded it in but she said it was too big. That was stupid because the Alero is 3yrs old with 25K miles and it already feels like it's starting to fall apart.

Might be but my boss has a 2000 Intrigue and it's a dream. And he has over 85K miles on it and my friends mom has a silver Alero and it's alright....now their Impala, don't get me started.
