For those looking for a new Mini-van...

http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=1

I swear, I wonder how much Honda paid them for this one. First it was the lack of Folding Seats, then now "mild but annoying form of torque steer that's really inexcusable given the meager torque" Now the 3.8 is gutless. Dodge...if you read this, do us a favor and drop in the freaking HEMI, and tune the suspension.

The Hemi wouldn't fit in the Caravan, plus it would be far too heavy.

It was more of a sarcastic suggestion.....it meant more like "give the damn thing class leading HP, and smoke everyone else"...oh wait they'll complain that there is too much power for a mini-van.

It's a Catch-22. Give it more power, and the torque steer will be even worse.

No, get a real suspension. Ditch the heavily overloaded struts.
The first minivan to 250 hp wins, although honda could do this by adding a 10hp IMA.

or get a real rear suspension and then the front can be 'tuned'

The Caravan beat the freestar. Not bad for a 9 year old platform. Just wait for the new Honda. That will outclass everything.

DC has to learn that cutting a few holes in the floor for the seats does not make a class leading minivan. They can still sell on price with the heavy incentives.

It doesn't matter how much horsepower they give it; it's still a minivan. Horsepower wars with minivans is stupid, IMHO; give it 250 HP, and it might keep up with my DOHC 5 speed Neon if I'm having a bad day. I figure if it's making 180 HP, it's making plenty for hauling a family and stuff; what I'd be more interested in is which one gives the best fuel economy because a minivan would be more useful on trips than at a drag strip. I say the first one to get 30 MPG on the highway and deliver the magic 180 HP or better wins.

They did more than just "cut a few holes in the floor". And wait for the redesign of the Vans that will happen around 06-07...when they add more stuff for the others to copy.

The DCX really do have nice minivans. They're not exactly hot lookers like the 300s or Magnums, but they have a lot of nice features.

no, but 250 hp would at least get them out of the way...minivans are way too underpowered and get move on the highway...but these minivans are nice www.turbominivan.com

Horsepower wars for minivans might not be such a bad thing. If youre stuck driving a minivan every day, hauling dirt, garden supplies, furniture, or the family, you probably want that mundane driving experience to be as enjoyable as possible.

Im surprised they excluded the MPV... then again the MPV competes with smaller sport wagons. It hasnt been a real minivan since the RWD no-sliding-doors version (I have one) disappeared.

Ummmmmmmmm, does that mean that the '89 Turbo Caravan I'm considering buying is a stupid purchase??? It SHOULD kick the shit out of the Intrepid R/T with a bit of tuning.

Oh well.......... www.turbominivan.com
