GTO Drifter

Classic lines from the Article:

"But what should Pontiac have expected? Drifting is the country’s newest motorsport, and most of the fans are the same enthusiasts who think it’s cool to spend 50 grand hopping up a Honda Civic that—even when modified—can’t outrun a Corvette"

I read that article in the magazine I got. I was surpised they didn't mention that Dodge sponsors a Viper as well in that circuit. I wonder if Dodge gets booed.

page 3:Pontiac is not the only automaker involved in drifting. Dodge recently announced it will sponsor driver Samuel Hubinette in a Viper.

How the heck did I miss that? I'll have to check my printed copy to see if it's the same.

HOTROD also has a feature on the same car/team. They got booed by some of the crowd, because it wasn't a Japanese import with a screaming coffe-can hornet's nest tailpipe. I wonder how they feel about European cars? I'm sure there are some 3 series Beemers and other rwd sedans on the circuit, which also make good low-end power and don't need to rev to 8500rpm with a clutch dump to spin the tires.
