2 hours for a $.25 piece

GRRR...blew a freeze plug in the dakota today...had to tow the truck home, cuz after 2 blocks, the temp would go to 250, all because of THIS...then it was a bitch to get back in, after it took a half hour to get out

Two Hours!!!???!!! The easy way is just hammer a big screwdriver thru the old one and pry/twist the old one out. Of course, it depends on which soft plug blew.

Which replacement did you use, the stock looking one or the better rubber compression type plug? For 25 cents musta been the OEM style...

Wow, that sounds a little premature to fail. Can't remember the last time I had one go out. Up here they usually rust thru from the salt in the winter...

OEM style...it was in the garage...but the truck is 16 years old, so its about time for it to go...but getting it out was easier...putting it back in was the trick...there isnt much room for me to work there, cuz the frame is in the way

Sorry, Spencer, I didn't realize your Dakota was that old. For some reason I was thinking it was only 5-6 yrs old.

I sorta figured if it took you that long it was one of those in a hard to reach place. The more expensive rubber compression ones might have been an esier fix for that location. Oh well, glad things are fixed now. You may want to consider replacing the rest of them if they are that old.
