It's really sweet, but I don't know how long this horsepower war can go on for with the gas prices the way they are right now. Still that 6.1 magnum makes my blood boil. It'll put an end to the bad analogy to the v6 magnums that Crysler has been cranking out in the 90's.
Hopefully the new Magnum Hemi would make the Ram more powerful at lower rpms. The current Hemi has a lot to brag, but falls short when compared to Nissan's Titan. The Titan cleans the Hemi's clock in just about any sort of accelerating and towing match with the exception of a highway-speed, roll-on up a 6% grade - something a truck owner is very unlikely to perform.
But if I'm buying a truck right now, I'd still choose the Cummins 600 over anything. Diesels rule, just look at the VW V10 TDi: 310 hp, 553 lb-ft of torque, 17 mpg city, 23mpg higway. Find a gas truck that can to that.
