Mopar gets killed in shootout.

Dreamcar garage did a ultimate muscle car shootout and the Mustang 429 was the winner. The Hemi Challenger came in dead last.

Speed TV special

Guess the Hemi wasn't that good after all.

I see you neglected to mention that they fried the clutch at some point early on, It never would win handling or braking contests, it wasnt made for that but I am sure the results tickled yor fancy.

The Challenger had one of the better 1/4 mile and 0-60 times, which is what the HEMI will do for you. The HEMI won't do shit for handling and braking. And like DodgeGuy said, you failed to mention the clutch was slipping.

It was mid pack in 0-60. The best run was the first before the clucth started to slip.

Larry Shinoda, the Mustang design team head back then, called the Boss429 a piece of crap. He said the Boss302 was the way to go for an all-out performance car. The Boss429 was pretty much only good in a straight line. For it's rarity, I'd take a Boss429 over a Hemi Challenger anyday. If it were a car to drive though, I'd be in the Challenger.

If the hemi was so bad why did NASCAR ban it in 1965. The 1st nascar to break the 200mph was a hemi powered Dodge Charger Daytona. The nascar driver with the most win's is R. Petty with most of them with hemi motors. The best NHRA driver Don the Snake all his wins with hemi motor's. The best women driver for NHRA also had all Plymouth powered hemi motors. Most of the current Drag race motor's are hemi motors of some shape or from. Hemi motors can't be all that bad.

The street hemi was not that great. The 440 was a better engine for most uses. I bet the Challenger would of done better with a 440.
