SUVs are more dangerous because of the idiots that drive them like formula 1 cars and end up rolling them over. Also, SUVs are worse in rollovers because of the extra weight of the frame and drive train crushing down on the roof.

People do tend to think because your up higher and bigger than everyone else then your going to be safer, and that applies to minivans too (Just imagine if they up the power to 300+??). Fact is that they do have a higher risk of rolling over and noone has addressed these issues before until now, in which people think they can, like what was said before, drive them like like Formula 1 cars. And more are rolling over. I personally like them and would buy a Durango (which happens to be on my shopping list when the time comes)or a Grand Cherokee but it's a totally different ball game, and I figured that out quickly after stepping out of the Intrepid while test driving a Grand Cherokee.

Are you kidding me?? lol... Most of the minivan drivers are women, and alot of women (no offence anyone ) have lead feet.

I don't care what the report says. If it's time to get into a head on or a T bone with a Civic or Corolla I'd rather be in the Suburban.

A note about Minivans.

They are NOT high in centre of gravity. They are build using a unibody car platform. All their drivetrain is mounted low and the rest is nothing but a light shell.

They may look taller than a sedan, but remember, the heavy stuff are underneath. The top is just empty shell composed of glass and sheetmetal. SUVs have their heavy frame and drivetrain mounted high, that's why they roll.

Try as hard as you can to roll an Oddysey on flat ground. You can't do it. My friend has done forward and reverse 180 s with his Windstar and it's not even close to rolling.

It follows the same anomaly of the latest Camaro. I believe that have one of the safest crash test ratings, but per accident, they have the highest percentage of deaths due to the nature of the drivers. Many large vehicle drivers simply don't understand the physics involved with such a large vehicle when pushed to the limits.
