I was getting sick of the plain rock rails on my Libby so i tracked down a set of used OEM color-matched tubular side steps. I also got them mainly cause i was sick of sliding out of the truck, and putting all the wear and tear on the side boslter of the leather seat. Now i can just step out of it. The last pic is a before pic, so you can compare what it originally looked like.

I did the same thing when I first got my KJ. I took them off after about a month though. They will get caught on stuff offroad and they negated my lift. (not sure if you ever plan on taking yours offorad though). I replaced them with a set of ORGs SuperNerfs that didn't hang down at all but still protected the rocker panels. (I plan on getting similar set for my ZJ)

Did you use those little brass push in press nuts that you have to hammer into the holes in the frame? Those are fun, huh? ;)

The Libby's looking good!

Those look pretty nice. I'm having the ground clearance issue with my Ram. I'm looking around for step bars but I don't want to reduce the ground clearance, nor make it look any lower to the ground.

I noticed that i lost ground clearence, but that's not a big issue, as i don't pla on doing much off-roading. I had the stock rock-rails, so i just had to bolt them in, took about 30 minutes per side, for both removal and installation. Woulda been quicker if i had someone to lift them while i was gettin the first bolts in.

How have your experiences been with the KJ's both of you? My mother-in-law's is ready to trade in her '99 Jimmy and I have been trying to push her twards the Liberty, or the new WK if she wants to spend the money. How is that 3.7 V6? I like the 4.0 in my 2000 WJ but it's a rough engine and over 4,000 rpm it just dies and sounds like it's coming apart....it's an awesome motor off road but no so great on road. I'd imagine the more "refined" 3.7 is better on road than the 4.0 I6. Have (or DID in DMAG's case) you had any problems with the truck in general?

Tell her to wait a bit. I have an '05 libby, and the transfer case has stuck in 4-wheel a couple times (I had a hell of a time parking in a dry parking lot when I was in "2-hi" according to my indicator light, or lack there-of, but in 4-hi-part time according to my transfer case and difficulty steering.

The 3.7L is definitly smoother than the 4.0L, but I much prefer the 4.0L (I like feeling the engine when it's on). It's decent getting on the highway (mind you, I'd much prefer the acceleration of the intrepid but the 3.7 will suffice.) It's also a considerable inprovement over the TJ's gas milage, considering it's just getting broken in, this should only get better.

Other than that, I can't comment as the vehicle only has a couple hundred miles on the odo and I'm not a libby guy per-say (I'd trade in the 4-doors, smooth engine, quite ride, power windows, extra trunk space, and keyless entry for a TJ in a second). But I found my sister and mom really like it. No offense to DMAG and Loud, but I guess it is somewhat a chick vehicle, unlike the XJ is replaced.
