Lowest Amazon price is for Prime Members though. That's $100/year. Still others that are well under the $599 Retail price without Prime.

Chris is much more of an expert on adding amps and wiring so I'll leave that to him.

You can add a powered subwoofer later at anytime. Seeing as you don't have a factory amp....you won't be getting a Super Improvement other than replacing the stock speakers with premium aftermarket ones.

Hello guys,

This the Alpine Im looking at. No motorized screen to worry about. i saw a video on YouTube right now about it at 5 star car stereo. The guys did a good review about all the features and this is what Im looking for. I will look at it in amazon. My wife has prime since she is finishing up a master degree and the university gives that to her. I saw a video on You Tube about a guy installing a double din in a concorde, He had to break something in the back of the radio to make space and then he was going to redo the face plate. Did not look that good but I will work something out.

The guys from Crutchfield sent me another link since I told them that I have sail speakers now. I will buy the speakers and the wire adapters from them only. Like you say Ron. Just having better speakers will definitely improve the sound in the car.

Good night guys

Hmmm..wonder if I still have any Blaupunkt speakers left in storage. Probably not.

Think I might have one or two Blaupunkt amps laying around but will need one for the Subwoofer I intend to put in the Durango.

Here's the Ricer setup (2000 Intrepid R/T)

Blaupunkt Amps. 1x 4 Channel for the door and Rear Deck speakers. 1x 2 channel for the Infinity Subwoofer.

Infinity 6x9 for the rear deck

Infinity 6.5" for the front doors. Using stock Sails.

12" Infinity Subwoofer in a Sealed box.

All running off a stock RB1 NAV unit that fits in all LH cars without any mods!

You can probably find a used RB1 for around $250!

Did you see that Leo? Looking for a NAV unit? RB1 is OEM.

You don't get the Crapple CarPlay or Android crap as it's old school but no modifications needed. No Bezel cutting etc.

You should already have the proper radio connectors as you have a 2003 for an RB1.

Hello Ron, thats a really nice system you have there. Did you have to rewire the car to use those amplifiers? Bigger wires for more power to go thru? If you did, did you have lots of trouble going in the doors with the new cables?

If I only want crystal clear good quality sound, do you recommend an amplifier? Is the power from a new unit will be sufficient? I don't want the car to rattle all the rivets and bolts out, just nice sound.

Regarding the Alpine system, my wife car has the ability to connect the car to the phone and she can take, make answer calls hands free. We both work inside a military base and we can't drive and use phones in the base. It has to be hands free devices. That radio has that ability, also I don't use CD,s I have lots of music on my phone and I will be installing a rear view camera. All can be done with the Alpine unit. Yes It will suck but Ill find a way to cover the radio in the dash. Will see Ill keep you guys posted.

This the unit Ron. Alpine iLX-207 7 inch Mech-less audio/video receiver
564 at amazon with free shipping. 594 at sonycelectronix.

Hello guys
its been a few days since I posted. Been super busy with the rental house and from time to time I did some work on the car. Just finished installing the new speakers.
Wow what a difference. They sound amazing and I still haven't changed the radio for the new one.

It took me a while to modify the tweeters in the sails. The bracket that Crutchfield gave me was not going to work. It was to big. I had to get creative and do some small drilling with 4 L shape brackets and a X bracket that Polk sent me with the tweeter. It came out pretty decent. Not too shabby. Will see if the bolts and nuts stay pretty tight. The door speakers went in without an issue. Pretty straight forward. Crutch field told me I had to drill a new hole for a screw but that was not the case. I used the Polk brakes and the crews aligned in perfect. The only thing I had to cut a small piece of plastic with the dremmel in order to insert the metal grill back in the door.
Here are the pictures.

How's the Mid/Lower Bass with the Polks? Should be much better than the OEM! I'm sure the High/Mid frequencies are much improved thanks to the separate Tweeters.

The stock radio without an amp is probably only 15 watts/channel at the most. A new radio with a better built-in amp will help some more.

A very clean install and looks great!

Thanks Ron, it sounds amazing, the bass and the highs, I can tell the difference!!!!!. Will see about the new radio.

It took me a while but it feels so good when you actually do the job and save some money and you know It was properly done ( to a limit since all of this is new to me!!!!)

Next is a radio and the Fog lights. Maybe Ill try to install courtesy lights in the doors. I got them from a 300 in Tallahassee when I got all the trim from the intrepid. Have to figure something out on how to fix or at least how to stop the dash from cracking even more!!!!

Won't be any wiring on the car side for Door Courtesy lights on an SE. You'll have to add wiring.

Premium LH cars up through 2001 had the wiring for Courtesy Lights in both front and rear doors. That changed in 2002 to Premium cars having Front Door Courtesy lights only.

No SE cars came with Door Courtesy lights....just reflectors.

I was thinking maybe I can run a line from the map lights or the reading lights in the back. Do the back doors have the white box connectors for the door harness like the front ones?

Thanks Terry, now I need to buy the material from the company that made the covers. I already have a shop that will do the 300m rear split seats.
