RBN vs RBB stereo head unit

hey there,

just a follow up question to one i posted a few weeks back. my stereo went in my car, i believe the original stereo was an RBB with the inputs on the back for a cd changer and steering wheel controls.
I found a good deal on a RBN stereo. Would anyone know if the RBN will be compatible with my car? it looks to have the same inputs in the back of it? also wondering if it is the same width, length, etc etc as the RBB. will it fit in the radio slot of my car???

oh, heres the link to the "chrysler radio" post if it helps. https://www.dodgeintrepid.net/showthread.php?t=170003

if anyone could help me out id appreciate it. buddy is waiting for me to send him some money via paypal!!!!

thanks alot

You should be fine with the new radio, only thing to watch out for was in 2002 they changed the plugs in the back of the radio.

Can someone take a peak and let me know if the inputs in the back are what i would need to fit my 01 R/T ?

thanks

I have a RBB radio I'm selling, came out of a 2001 300M with radio controls and a CD changer.

In 2002 the plugs were combined into one, instead of having two separate ones. Also, the ground cable was eliminated.

I realize this is an old post, but I have a question about the plugs. I have 1 plug on my harness for the current radio, but I want to put in a RBN unit that has two plugs. Is there and adapter available, or do I just need to cut the harness and put the older plugs on it? Thanks. and sorry if this a dumb question.. I'm not a stereo guy.

I'm not sure if they make an adapter that's already built, but it would be easy to make your own. You would need a plug out of a donor car, then buy an aftermarket stereo adapter for your car. From there, solder the two together and you have a custom harness that doesn't require splicing into the factory harness.

Thanks for the quick reply. I know most people want to upgrade to a newer unit, but I really like the cassette option on the older radio. I'm probably one of the few people who still use cassettes. LOL

Your Intrepid looks just like my 02 except I have the SE version.

Garage
I would just look for a RAZ radio, has cassette, single disc cd, rds (gives station/song info depending on the station), and is plug and play for 02 and newer.

I believe I have the Mopar wiring harness adapter that allows 1998-2001 radios to plug into the 2002-2004 car wiring harness. Also comes with the antenna adapter. The antenna connections are different between the year ranges.
