do to sound air space in the trunk for a good quailty sound that is loud only 4 L7 i think would be best with them on the side of the trunk and the amps in the middle in a fiber glass bottem and back and pelxy on the front and top with a ported box will sound nice i am pretty sure i am gonan go with the kicker the 12w7 is streching the budget

so you're going to port 4 L7 12s....in an intrepid trunk...with the amps in the middle between the boxes. Unless your trunk is 3 times the size mine was, not a shot in hell, lol. Sorry to sound so negative, but I don't see it happening.

either way both subs are outstanding, they both are top quality and both give out great db's, so its what you think you can afford to go with, or what looks better in the trunk

4 L7's in a properly designed ported box will never fit into that trunk...
A more practical setup would be a XXX15.

more subs doesnt neccesarily mean louder. its just more cone area for the amps to push. i know a guy who was running 2 MOJO 15's in his CRX competition car, because 4 wasnt as loud. he ran 4 MOJO amps to 2 MOJO 15's and i dont know what he ended up placing at USAC finals....and yes derek, you said not to post decibels, so i wont, i am just saying that more cone area doesnt mean louder if you dont have the amp power to power all the subs

There are a ton of details that go into making high SPL and more cone area and power are only the 2 very, very basic details. There are hundreds of other ones that will make or break the system.

As for putting 4 ported 12" L7s in the trunk of an Intrepid, only if you have undersized enclosures or you spill out into the rear seat area...

forget about competing, lol, youre not gonna have a chance, even though you said nobody is in Michigan (believe me, there are a few ;)). You seriously have to go to a comp to know what its about. With the plan you keep insisting on doing, youre gonna get blown away at a show if there is anyone there who knows what they're doing. Its just a terrible design for spl. I'd be very surprised if it does good numbers.

jl12w7 hands down, the solo barics are mainly spl subs, while the w7 is better suited for a sql set up. but that is just my opinion
