Note to others doing this Mod...it may be a little better for everything to find a better location for the Ipod.

One good slam of the glove box door can throw your Ipod into Sad Mac Icon land, as happened to my Ipod. Luckly I was able to repair it...but its not a pretty sight.

what about the center console??? maybe an ipod holder?

Im going to attempt the same mod, i just got the ipod 60gb from the states so i want to try it when my rb1 arrives..

Gorm, does ur dvd player play mp3s as well? Im guessing with no titles on the rb1 tho.

Thats soo many things tho,
- sirius
- ipod
- changer (mp3,video)
- basic features(cd,radio)

BTW I was talking to Shaun about a guy who used to sell the DIY rb1 video kits which sounds really cool but the screen is wayy too small. A rear unit would be nicer but even then its too much. I like my dads van for now HEHE....

Great work tho Gorm, awesome little setup.. BTW i noticed the dirt but its the camera settings, my car always comes out dirty and i always keep it clean.

I had contacted every source I could find to get confirmation that the ipod kit would work in a pre-2001 car using the old style to new style adapter on an RB1. Nobody would confirm compatibilty. Finally, somebody did it! You have a 99 right Jason? Which means you would have the same setup as me with a 2000, so that is confirmation enough for me. I'm ordering it! Thanks dude.

I realize I found this thread a little late..but hey, I still found it right? ;)

Hey, if you need an extension harness (They make mention of it in the diagram) I have an extra I'm trying to sell. I had to use one, but ended up having an extra one in all my parts.

I ordered mine yesterday

Can't wait to install it, they said it's backordered though

We'll see what kind of setup I end up with, if I end up needing that cable I will send you a PM if you still have it.

Thanks Gorm.

wait how is this wired because doesnt your 6disc changer fit into that little connector that is on the rb1 (i just hooked mine up today with the additional harness needed for a 2000 intrepid)...what i mean is that there is only one space for a changer so how would you hook both this and 6disc cd changer if they both act as changers?

You can use both the changer and the ipod kit because your changer will plug into the IIK (I am creating a new acronym for the - Ipod Integration Kit - ;) ) so the the unit will swap between the two devices. The radio will see both of them.

I am working on a pretty cool location for the cable, I'll get some pics up as soon as it's done.

Just so everyone knows, this thing it just so friggin cool, I don't know how I lived without it so long. Thank you Gorm for being the first to test it out.

It's just an adapter of sorts, like the old tape you put in your cassette player with a wire coming out of it that you connected to your cd player. Except this gives you complete functionality of your ipod through your factory radio. You can browse playlists, select and play without touching your ipod.

Plus, your ipod will say "DODGE" when you plug it in
