Magnum 05 2.7

Does anyone know if I can put a 99 or 00 3.5 in place of the 2.7

Doubt it. In the LH cars the ranges without modifications are 1998-2001 and 2002-2004. Putting the earlier engines in later LH cars requires a camshaft sprocket and flexplate (Flywheel) swap.

The LX cars would be more equivalent to the 2002-2004 LH cars. The problem you have is completely different Electronics Control Systems as in CAN BUS vs PCI BUS. A 2.7L to 3.5L swap in an LX car isn't easy nor cheap like it is in an LH car.

You'd be better off asking these questions on an LX forum anyway.
