Loving an unloved Concorde.

Hello all... Well, my LH story began in January when my wife found this 95 Chrysler Concorde for sale on Craigslist. Having no prior knowledge of these cars other than in passing, I decided to roll the dice. It's been a long and costly journey to making this LH a true daily once again. New replacement parts at Advance and Oreilly's have all been special order and 1st gens in salvage yards are scarcer than hens teeth. Overall I'm pleased with the car. The 3.3L is a breeze to work on. I'm not a fan of the plastic fenders, but that's a rant for another day.

Very cool! I love the look of the first gen LH cars. That's a classy looking colour too. Sadly, they really are scarcer than hen's teeth indeed. If you don't mind me asking, how many miles are on it and what parts did you have to replace to get it up to where it is now? I'm glad you've taken the initiative to keep 'er on the road! I've always loved these cars, so good on you, man.

Don't see a lot of activity from 1st gen owners here! Welcome!

Figure 1993-1997 cars are now 26-30 years old! Considered "Vintage" by many states as far as registration!

PlumCraziness, thanks for your kind words. When I bought her she had 175,000 on the clock. Today she has just over 178,000.

Parts replaced:

Valve Cover, Intake Manifold, & Oil Pan Gaskets, Sparkplugs, Drain Plug, Waterpump, Radiator, Thermostat, Upper & Lower Radiator Hoses, Upper & Lower Transmission Lines, Transmission Filter & Gasket, Headlight Bulbs, Front & Rear Struts, Outer Tie Rod Ends, Inner Tie Rod Bushings, Both Lower Control Arms, Front & Rear Sway Bar Links, Fuel Filter, Alternator, Front and Rear Rotors turned, Radio, Antenna, Trunk Weatherstrip, Rear Ashtray, Steering Clockspring, Trunk Latch Actuator, and of course Oil, Oil & Air Filter, and Transmission Fluid.

Parts to be replaced:

4 New Goodyear Viva3 Tires (Next Week), both front plastic fenders for metal fenders, and lower bumpers and cladding to be repainted factory grey.

Yes, quite a bit done. I'm very proud to say 100% of the parts I replaced myself in my front yard! Alongside this restoration I replaced the heater core, and new Mopar Dash on my 97 Dodge Ram. All this while driving 3rd shift from SC to VA and back 5 nights a week. My love for 90's Mopar earned me the nickname Lexacocca at work.

Ronbo, Sadly there aren't many 1st gens around these days. I think the abomination known as "Cash for Clunkers dissolved many into oblivion. Unlike my 2nd Gen Ram where parts are readily available, parts for 1st Gen LH's are special order. In SC vintage doesn't mean didally. Taxes on my 95 Concorde are the same as my 97 Ram ($122). However having the Ram as the primary vehicle on my insurance is cheaper than the Concorde. Which was a head scratcher until my mother-in-law (who works for Allstate) told me because the Concorde is considered a rare car, that collision parts like fenders, doors, etc. are harder to find.

Wow! That's just about a full restoration! lol Awesome! Again, kudos to you for keeping it on the road! I respect anyone who chooses to keep an Intrepid on the road instead of crushing it. Same can be said for doing all the work yourself. Due to you, that car has a new lease on life. If you take good care of it, it has a long life ahead of itself. Good on ya'! Thanks for sharing!

Wow! That is quite the feat! Kudos to ya.

You don't, by chance, work at the shipyard in Norfolk, do you? I ask because my brother works there and has since 1980/1981. Would be a small world if so.

Jen G Thanks for the kind words. The Concorde is still chugging along. Once cooler weather arrives I will tackle a pesky steering rack issue, replace multi-function switch, ignition switch, and left rear door lock. Plus I plan to repaint the faded gray bumpers and lower door cladding to match the rest of the car.

Sorry, I don't go to Norfolk. I have a dedicated route from SC to RVA and back hauling steel.
