My name is Jen and I live in Northern Nevada. I own four LH platform cars so I am very happy to have found this forum! There is much to love about these cars which is why I want to learn as much about them as possible so that I may enjoy many more years of driving pleasure.
List of cars I own:
1999 Gold Concorde LXI 3.2 L Engine 160,000 miles (currently not being driven)
2000 Gold LHS 3.5 L HO Engine 90,000 miles (front left side damaged from recent 5-10 mph collision on ice; insurance company totalled it, UGH!)
2000 Silver LHS 3.5 L HO Engine 125,000 miles (my daily driver)
2004 Silver 300M 3.5 L HO Engine 80,000 miles (purchased March 2019; my sweetheart's daily driver)
I am well aware of the timing belt/water pump maintenance being high priority and of utmost importance. Both daily drivers will be going in for this service and other maintenance items as soon as I get done interrogating, sorry, interviewing mechanics in my area. LOL
After all the reading I have done here and on the 300M Enthusiast Forum, of which I also recently joined, I am armed with info (have literally read a few hundred pages of forum threads and how-tos) and understand most of the idiosyncrasies related to the 3.5 L engines. If I had the specific tools required/recommended to do the work properly and maybe a bit more practical experience I would seriously consider tackling the maintenance myself. Big shout out to both forums for being AWESOME!!!
I will admit though that I am a bit anxious about finding a mechanic... I mean, after all the stories I have read about what can happen if this isn't done right or that part (aftermarket) is replaced with that instead of this and now these parts are no longer available, etc. I am like WTH?!!! How will I even know if the mechanic flushes my coolant without using one of those dang machines and does the flush prior to replacing the timing belt and water pump with distilled water not regular, city water and will hopefully remember to use the correct coolant? Will they remember to replace all the o-rings and seals that I will kindly emphasize need replacing as well? Will I sound like an anxious control-freak new customer PITA? It's a lot!
I welcome and encourage advice and discussion from any and all! I am open to suggestion and correction, yes correction too, and have a sense of humor and don't offend easily so please hit me up with anything that you think might be of interest. Learning is what I am here for. And friendly banter. I can take a joke so friendly banter is cool.
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!
