New owner with a question

hey people. i never thought i'd own a mopar but when i drove the 2002 ES (i now own) i was hooked. these cars seem underrated and overlooked. i love it! this is the best picture i have at the moment, taken by the dealership i bought it from.

i have a question though: does anyone know what the stock 0-60 is on these ES's? i can't seem to find a solid number anywhere.

anyway, it's pretty much loaded except for the sunroof (which i really wanted). black leather + arizona summer = not fun, but i'll live with it. especially once there's super dark tint all around, which is legal with the blazing sun here in az.

i look forward to learning a lot!

that seems high... edmunds.com has a 2000 SE 2.7 running 8.4 seconds, and the sxt with 250hp running 7.4, so i assume the ES is somewhere between those numbers.

Yeah, *nods in approval*... a 2000 SE with a 2.7L will haul some ass. No doubts about that. :p

of course all you need is a stopwatch a bit of dry, open road and you can report your own #'s

go for it!

welcome to the boards...My '03 SXT 3.5L is definately running more than 7.4 / 0-60. Truth my intake and dual exhaust helps out though.

I still haven't timed my R/T. I assume it is similar to the SXT's numbers.

BTW, Welcome to the boards!

my curiosity was killing me so i decided to try and time it myself using the only stopwatch i had... my cell phone. not very scientific, i know, but it's the best i can do at 1 am.

and i'm sad to report that the numbers were similar to what concordia posted... according to the cell phone, 0-60 in 8.9 seconds. of course, it's 100 degrees here (at 1 am!!) and it was on an ever-so-slight incline, but still... i was hoping for better. but hey, it was fast enough to show tail light to an es300 earlier today, so i'm still happy. and it's a gorgeous, fun to drive car! just a little slow off the line, i guess.

makes me wonder how edmunds got 8.4 seconds out of a 2.7L. must have to do with temp/altitude/humidity and testing equipment. if anyone can corroborate my numbers i'd be much obliged!

we should start a thread where everyone posts their testing conditions, equipment and 0-60 times.
