Post Hello

I am new to the site and wanted to say hi. I got my 2000 Intrepid about a month ago: Green, base model with a 2.7 engine. I love this ride and have wanted one since Dodge first came out with this model. So far I have found the site very interesting and informative.

Welcome to the site...

Since you have a used 2.7 you might want to think about getting the engine flushed in case you have any sludge building up in there. These engines seem to hold up pretty well if maintained correctly but if they are abused (oil not changed regularly) you could be in for some problems. Flush and switch to synthetic oil.

Thanks for the welcome. I found out through carfax that this car was in a rental fleet early in it's life (til about 20,000 mi) in Nevada and was then sold to to it's last owner in Golden, CO. (who sold it with 54,000 mi) After reading the threads here I decided to start conversion to Synthetic by changing the oil to one quart Synthetic and four mineral to start the process. Didn't want to change all at once since that could be harmful in cleaning to quickly and dislodging nasty stuff into the engine. Not knowing the previous maintenance history I will be doing an engine flush over the weekend and then switching to Synthetic.
