Smile a few little questions

hi guys, newer to the forum and have only had my intrepid for not even a month yet. I was wondering a few things...

ok, ummm... the K&N air filters, i heard that they WILL add HP to my vehicle with just buying the filter (and not the entire system), is this true? and if so, how much estimated?

what are some of the cheaper things i can buy right now to help boost my HP? like what kind of spark plugs, etc

ummm..... do those MOD chip things they sell on ebay for like $15-20 that are supposed to change the amount of time relay for your fuel or something like that and add an extra 15-20 HP actually work? if so, do they burn up alot of extra gas? how much?

what are some "not so expensive" but things that really add to the look of the car things that i could get? right now its basically stock

1994 intrepid
pin striping (came on it, but looks pretty sweet)
120k miles but runs smooth
sony mrx-100(i think thats the serial?) cd player (i think its like 40watts per channel or something like that? not sure, but its not ALL that great and its transferred from my last car)
umm.... two 12'700 watt bandpass rockford fosgate subs
a 233watt per channel rockford fosgate amp (its supposed to be a component amp but i dont have a larger one right now so thats what im using for my subs)
stock speakers at the moment
i have red neons that im gonna hook up under my seats so that they glow on your feet and a blue one im gonna put in my trunk by my sub
a cool laser engraved mirror license plate to put on the mount in the front (was gonna take it off but it had nasty holes so just put it back on and got that license plate) that says "Intrepid"
HID headlights

thats about it I think

p.s. also, any other little things that may help the performance of my vehicle out like what type of oil and little things like that would be appreciated.... thanks guys! And happy to be a part of the forum!

ummm, v6 3.3L (i think it was up there already, lol) but anyhow, if thats not what you wanted then im not sure.....

also, i was thinking about buying a new exhaust for it, the site claims it will give it a 10hp boost but i dont know if those are real numbers or not (its a weld on), how much do new exhausts usually give you?

1.) cold air intake set up...champion gold spark plugs, plug wires.
removal of your air restrictor in the acordion tub for smoother air flow.
2.)black out head light covers, window tint, anything that you think would look good really.
3.) i use castrol gtx 15w45 oil...always use atf+3 or +4 tranny fluid...anything else will destroy the tranny.

ok, thanks

what are plug wires?

how much do you think the gold spark plugs and plug wires cost?

how much does cold air intake cost and is it hard to set up?

ummm..... if you take out the air restrictor what side effects does/could it have? (if no side effects, why do they even put it on there? lol)

thanks for answering all these questions for me, i know it must be a pain, lol

plug wires run to your plugs.
champion gold plugs are around 3-4 bucks a piece
some range from 80-300 bucks...as long as it works go cheap.
it's easy to set up.
air restrictor is there for emmisions and noise control...your car will sound better and run better without it.

Welcome!

You might consider using the "search" function in the 1st Generation section...look for specific topics (such as "cold air intakes" or "Spark plugs" to see what info is there. When you search, your query word must be 4 letters or longer...use an * if your word is shorter than 4 letters...

That, coupled with a review of several of the outstanding "How to..." posts, will keep you busy for a couple of months!

that i did, it helps but you usually have a few people saying different ways to do things (i know thats just how people are everyone has their own way) and it gets confusing on which would be the "best" way to do it, and things like that of the sort

thanks again to all for the help
