Finally

Been watching these cars since they first hit the streets. I nurse a car as long as possible so have had to wait to buy an Intrepid. My last car just hit 202,000 and started in on some trouble so looked in the want ads at 8, seen the beauty at 12:15, owned it at 4:30! Not bad for a days work, especially since I was just starting to look. Been checking out this site and it is awesome! Good work! Now to go ask some questions!

Thanks! I bought a '96 3.3. I really wanted a 3.5, but the color was good (deep red) and had a spoiler on the back, which was a plus. Buckets. Most everything I wanted, but not the 3.5. What cinched it was the price, plus the mileage (86,500) was better than I hoped for. I've always been partial to the first series, but they are hitting 6 years + in age now. There were some other's around with the 3.5's, but the price was almost double from what I had to pay. Spent the weekend getting the beast in shape. Tune up, upgrading the sound, etc, etc. Having condensation issues in one headlight but after reading the forums may look for some back ups before tearing into these, in case I break them. Pretty scary to mess with from what I've been reading in the forums. Noticed some surface rust on the inside bottom of the doors when I bought it that I'll have to get fixed before winter, but it wasn't that bad. Was showing off the car to my brother and opened a back door and noticed more than just surface rust in the middle bottom of that door. Can't see it from the outside, but will definately push up the date with the body shop. Any advice on anything else to look for? Common preventative/ normal repair tips?

go ahead and replace your cam sensor before it starts fugging up and leaves you stranded...mine went at 98k...some good flowing exhaust made all the diff on mine...both power and mpg, then I did a cone filter intake w/tube and plat plugs w/8mm wires...have your tranny fluid changed if it hasn't been already and remember to use atf+3 or atf+4...NOT DEXRON OR TYPE F!!!!...enjoy your new ride!....167K and still rollin hot on mine.

welcome to the site.

note: the 3.5L engine is more powerful, but the 3.3L is more reliable.
