"SPORT" Trep ???

Hi Guys:

Saw a car today that surprised me.

It was a "First Generation" Intrepid, not a Vision or Concorde. On the front passenger door, just above the scuff molding, was the word, "SPORT."

What is this ???

I did not see any engine designations. It had cloth seats. No cladding. We were in traffic so I could not get a closer look or stop to inspect it further.

I do not know if it was a standard shift or not.

I have a "Standard" Trep, or so I thought. Was this a step above me ???.....or below ???? Was it a step below an ES ????

What years was it produced ??? Why ????

Is it American or Canadian ???

Also, today I saw about 7-8 Second Generation Treps from Canada at a dealer that we service. They had the "Chrysler" name plate on the front passenger doors and the "Chrysler" badge on the hood. There were a few ES's but no RT's.

They were probably auction cars or maybe former rentals. I think they were '92's or '93's. I am not very good at spotting model years yet....whether it is FIRST or SECOND generation.

Sure hope someone out there can ans my q's.

Thanks for your info, input and help.
