Greetings from Texas! I'm new here

Hey there! I'm so glad to have found a site for the LH that has nothing to do with HATING the LH!

My name is Bryan and I'm a student at Texas A&M University. I recently inherited a 1997 Chrysler Concorde LXi from my Great Uncle. God rest his soul.

I know nothing about these cars at all, but the car needs some TLC, so I hope this site will play a big role in me getting the car back up to snuff.

Let me tell you about Bessie III....that's the name my Great Uncle gave to the car when he bought it. It's pronounced "Bessie Number Three."

The car has only 50,000 miles on it and is Deep Amethyst Pearl in color.... PURPLE for the layman. The car exhibits a LOUD popping noise when turning, usually to the left, and it comes from the left side of the car and you can feel it through the steering wheel. I've already begun reading some posts on this issue.

The shift-lock doesn't work and you can move the shifter regardless of the key being in or the brake being pressed....a little scary! Learned this was actually a recall I'm going to have to take care of. The heater also doesn't work, another common problem I've learned just today from reading the forums.

The power driver's seat is a bit erratic...the rear portion of the seat bottom will not tilt up or down...the motor just whines and whines.

Other than these minor issues, I just can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this car. I was one of those people who couldn't stand a Chrysler product before I fell into this one. Now, I drive it more than my other car (1996 Mazda Millenia S). It's just the perfect balance of sporty and comfortable. And I really love the room.

In any case, nice to meet you! See you all around!

Your name is Bryan and you are from Bryan? Is this a coincidence? Or is it the Texas A&M "Aggie" in you?

Just kidding! I'm from Waco, TX (or wacko, as my 7 year old daughter would pronounce it), and I've been in California for almost 10 years. So maybe she's right!

Welcome to the site!

Welcome!

As for the shifter being like that...well if it still moves with the key not turned then that's a problem which would most likely be fixed by the recall. But 1st generation LH cars did not have the Brake-Shift Interlock so that would not be fixed.

Enjoy, and have fun!

Thankyou soooo much for the carfax! And welcome to the site! That popping sound could be a cvjoint but that would be surprissing for a car with 50,000 miles. Anyway thanks again!!!!!!

I got a 1993 Concorde, almost bone stock, and shift interlock is there.

Let me clarify and elaborate;
My 1st GEN cannot move the shifter when car is off.
But when It's ON, you can move it without pressing the brake.
So there are two separate principles.
One is Brake Shift Interlock (press brake to shift from park)
The other is Car OFF shift interlock.

2nd GEN has both.
1st GEN has Car OFF shift interlock only.
