Well, I'll start with great site. I'm part of the Mustang Crowd (could be good or bad
) and typically spend time either at The Corral or as an admin at another smaller board. I've got some good info over the last year or so here and finally decided I'd register to say so.
As the wifes 99 Intrepid started devoloping little problems I did a google search and was surprised to find such a large member base for the Inrepids. I'm used to the numbers with Mustang stuff but never imagined that there were that many people out there posting about their Intrepid. Anyhow, the 1st problem was with the speed sensors on the transmission. I found the info I needed in a thread here.
JoeKD made it too easy with his thread.
Then I started having problems with the fan switch a little later and sure enough, I came back here and ran across another thread.
DanIntrepid'00 and f59 helped on this one.
Now I've got 2 different things going on and popped in today to see what I could find. Again, I was surprised at how good the search field worked. It's currently having a problem with a flickering oil light, which I'll be messing with over the next day or so.
In2Deep listed the TSB and part numbers needed!
The other problem is the check engine light. I went by an Advance Auto this morning since they will read codes for free and found out it was something in the convertors or something. I had the trouble code so I did a search on it an dended up finding some answers again.
Crombie and Hypnos helped here.
We'll hopefully be getting rid of the Intrepid within the next 6 months but you can bet if I end up with any more problems I'll check in here 1st cause odds are that someone has seen it already and knows exactly what is going on.
Again, props to the staff and knowledgable members. Just the speed sensor stuff alone saved me at least $350 compared to what it cost me to fix it myself and what the dealer wanted. (not that I'd go to a dealership anyways
