Touchup paint

This summer hasn't been kind to my Intrepid...A very large chunk of my 20-mile commute was construction, so there's lots of chips and dings in my paint. I bought one of the small brush-on Duplicolor touchup paints from Autozone, but I've got a couple questions about using it. It says to use 2 coats, so I'm waiting on the first to dry (got about 10 minutes before the second one goes on), but it says to wait 24 hours to clearcoat. My question is if I can just use some wax or Nu-Finish (love that stuff) to clearcoat, or if I have to make another trip to Autozone and get a small spray-can of clearcoat.

The color won't be right until clearcoat is put on.

I second to needing the clear coat.
