Cleaning Tinted Windows

What products can I use to safely clean the inside of the tinted windows on my ride?

Thanks

I'm not sure on any specific product, but when i got mine tinted he gave me a bottle of tint cleaner... if i remember right, its the ammonia in windex which is bad for the tint so you have to find some cleaner w/o ammonia.

You can use anything that doesn't have ammonia in it. Ammonia is commonly used to remove tint. There are several companies who sell window cleaner that they say is "tint safe." I've used a couple and always found them to streak pretty badly. They typically use alcohol as a base which makes them dry really quickly. Personally I use Meguiar's Final Inspection (you can use quick detailer also) to clean my windows. It also streaks pretty bad unless you back over the windows with a clean towel when you're done. As long as you don't slack on that second wipe you'll be happy with the results. Also, you should use a soft towel rather than paper towel to avoid scratching the tint. Most tints are pretty scratch resistant, but I would recommend using a soft towel anyway. You can't be too careful with the baby...

the best thing for cleaning windows is water and vinigar. I use about 2 parts water to 1 part vinigar. It also does not leave a terrible smell either.

I also forgot to say, if you have the dyed film type tint (rather than the metal tint) Meguiar's claims you can use their Clear Plastic Detailer on it. I have the metal tint so I've never tried it...

you can buy stuff called tint aid which is made for appling and cleaning tinted windows. you can buy it in any tint section at pep boys and such and also wal-mart. all that is really in it as a base is a couple of drops (6 or 7 ) drops of baby shampoo in a quart of warm water.. spray it on from a bottle and use a squedgee and paper towels.

The guy that put my tints on told me to use a non-amonia based cleaner.
