Getting a good shine from a car wash?

Hey, i just contacted my two brothers and my sister who i havn't seen or talked to in 5 years they're wanting some pictures of me so i was gonna go take my car to the car wash and get some pictures of me and my car.. It's only like 30 degrees here so i dont really want to spend all day washing and waxing my car and i live on gravel roads so it wont do any good. I was wondering if there was any tips for getting my car shiny and sparkly from a car wash? Thankz ahead of time!

When I used to drive my mothers SX2.0, I would get a full wash somewhere, and shamois it down afterwards. Looked decent I guess, but the rims never came out all that clean :p

Wash it down however you want, then use Duragloss Aquawax. It's a wax as you dry product, but sometimes I use it as a quick detailer. Fantastic results and the durability is decent as far as spray waxes go. I find it locally at Carquest. BTW, for washing I go with a rinseless wash. I use Optimum No Rinse Wash, but another you might find at an RV supply is ProtectAll Quick and Easy Wash. I can do my whole car with 2 gallons of water, a wool mitt, and a drying towel. It's great because in cool weather you just fill the bucket with warm water and add the solution.

Yep, the water will make the paint look brand new, until it dries ;)
My M looks awesome when its still wet from a wash, then I dry it and it doesn't look as good :(

just hand wash her, make sure you work from bottom up so you can see where youve already washed. then towel dry once, wait 15 mintues, towel dry again, wait 15 minutes, open and close all doors and trunk to get out pesky water deposits, dry again. wait 15 mins and wax away. if you wanna be really high speed rainex all the windows. front back and side. this is how i do it about once a month, and when my trep gets all the mud and salt from the plowing on base i just pressure wash it off. easy. but your arms will let you know when its break time

I had a lot of luck with the Turtle Wax Ice product. They make a spray detailer and I actually thought it made the car look "wetter" like you guys were talking about, but I'm not sure If I would use it in this weather tho... Me and my brother were washing our cars and the Tire Shine would freeze as soon as it hit the tire lol. My car looks awesome tho... bucket of hot water with car wash soap in it, 4 2 liters filled with hot water to rinse, worked awesome. And definitely get yourself an "absorber". Its kinda like a foam/rubber cloth that just eats up all that water that is left after rinsing. Also you won't get any annoying lint. I just washed and dried with that, no wax or anything and my car looks amazing... cleanest car in the town this time of year lol.

Hand wash it with car wash soap (Eagle One, Meguiars, etc. are all good) and lukewarm or warm water.

Rinse the car as well as is possible with filtered water, or using a filtered sprayer like the Mr. Clean joint (this will reduce appearance of water spots if you aren't able to dry the car quickly or are washing it by yourself).

Dry with a microfiber towel (one that does not leave behind particles). There are a lot of cheap microfiber towels out there, invest in something of good quality.

Spray wax will give your car a pretty decent shine. There are a lot of them out there and they basically all give the same results. Bottom line - nothing beats the shine of a full carnuba wax and polish - hand rubbed or buffed.
